NBC has extended the episode count of The Irrational Season 1. How many episodes will it now have, and what does this mean for Season 2?
There is some great news for fans of the Jesse L. Martin series, The Irrational. It has an extended episode order by NBC.
This extended episode order isn’t to a full season. Don’t expect a full season for any series on the network. Instead of 10 episodes, the series will get 11. It looks like the series needs just that one more episode to be able to fully wrap up the bombing storyline, which we know will wrap up by the end.
Will The Irrational get a second season?
The series is currently on a break. Only seven episodes had fully filmed before the dual strikes during the summer. So, the series is now on a break until the new year. The good news is The Irrational is one of the shows that is set to start filming at the end of November.
The extra episode is a good sign for the future of the series. TVLine reports that this series, as well as fellow freshman Found, is in serious contention for a renewal. With so few scripted shows on broadcast TV, fans of crime dramas will have turned to everything they could, which arguably helped The Irrational. NBC did the right thing in planning ahead by giving this series an early pilot pickup to get enough episodes to run in the fall.
While the bombing storyline itself will be wrapped up by the end of the first season, there are sure to be plenty of storylines to run after that. After all, we need to see what the truth does to Alec Mercer. He has always said that he would tell the truth about his burn marks once he remembered things, but what if he doesn’t remember it all still? What if he just finds out the truth about why the bomb went off?
The Irrational is set to return in the new year. Catch up on the series so far on Peacock.
