Reid Scott joins Law & Order Season 23: Who will he play?
There’s a new cop on Law & Order, as Reid Scott will be joining the series for its 23rd season. Find out who he will play and more.
One thing Law & Order fans have long gotten used to is change in the ranks. The show has regularly gone through actors over the course of its run, and it’s not been that different since NBC revived it in 2021.
Anthony Anderson had returned as Detective Kevin Bernard, who he had played in the show’s last seasons before NBC canceled it in 2010. He was joined by the new arrival Frank Cosgrove (Jeffrey Donovan). Anderson then left after the revived Season 21 and was replaced by Mehcad Brooks as Cosgrove’s new partner, Jalen Shaw.
Now, Donovan has departed with word a decision was made after Season 22 was completed back in May. There’s been no word from the actor or NBC on the exit or how Cosgrove will leave the series.
With a premiere date set for mid-January, Law & Order would have to work quickly to fill Cosgrove’s shoes. Now we know who steps in for him.
Who is Reid Scott in Law & Order Season 23?
Per Deadline, Reid Scott will be taking Cosgrove’s place as a yet-unnamed new lead detective. He should be making his debut in the Season 23 premiere.
Scott is best known for playing the arrogant aide Dan Eagan in the Emmy-award-winning HBO comedy Veep. He also played talk show host Gordon Ford on the fifth and final season of the Prime Video comedy The Marvelous Mrs. Masiel.
It appears Scott is the only new addition for Law & Order this year, with Brooks, Camryn Manheim (Lt. Kate Dixon), Hugh Dancy (Assistant DA Nolan Price), Odyela Halevi (ADA Samantha Maroun), and Sam Waterston (DA Jack McCoy) all returning.
As production is set to begin right after Thanksgiving, Scott will hit the ground running as his new detective, and once more, Law & Order has a fresh face in its ranks.
Law & Order Season 23 premieres on Thursday, Jan. 18 2024 at 8/7c on NBC.
