Harlan Coben’s Shelter has been canceled after one season by Amazon. What are the chances of it being saved by another network?
There has been some bad news for Amazon fans recently. Three great and diverse shows were canceled, with Shelter being one of them. The Harlan Coben YA adaptation ended with some major cliffhangers and promises for character development.
Of course, now eyes are on whether the show will be saved by another network or not. Is there a chance that another streamer could continue the story, or is this really a one-and-done series?
Harlan Coben’s Shelter probably won’t be saved
We continue with the bad news. It’s highly unlikely that Harlan Coben’s Shelter will get picked up by another network. When announcing the cancellation, it didn’t even sound like it was being shopped around. This is usually the tell-tale sign that there won’t be another season of the series.
If the show was going to be saved, it would need to be by another streaming platform—and preferably one with an international base already. That limits a few options, as it rules out Peacock, for example. It also makes it much harder for the show to be saved by another network.
Out of all the streamers, Netflix would probably make the best option. After all, this is already the home of other Harlan Coben adaptations. It did feel a little weird watching Shelter on Prime Video when so many others are already on Netflix.
The problem with the save is the way the streaming contracts are written. In many cases, there are limitations of moving the shows to another streaming platform, especially the seasons that have already aired. It ends up not making sense for another streamer to pick up the show as it doesn’t get previous seasons.
Shelter is available to stream on Prime Video.
