Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2 was meant to start production earlier this year, but the strikes delayed things. When will it now go into production?
Pre-production of Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2 was meant to start in April, according to TVLine. That plan was temporarily shelved while everyone figured out what was going on with the strikes. Then the WGA went on strike and SAG-AFTRA followed suit not long after that. It led to a lot of shows being put on hold.
Fortunately, the Paramount+ production wasn’t completely scrapped, unlike some other shows. Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2 is still set to happen, and now we know when production is set to start. At least, a rough idea of when it is set to start.
Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2 starts production in January
Paget Brewster has been very open with fans about the state of the series. She made it clear on Twitter that the show would go into production in mid-January. What’s even better is that production is supposed to be a fast one to make sure fans get the show as soon as possible. This won’t impede the quality of the series, though.
This could mean that we get the show back in the summer. If not, then we could look at fall 2024. It’s worth noting that the first season started production in the spring and we got it back in the fall in a split season—with a traditional winter hiatus. It is possible that we could see a short production cycle and another mini-split in the season.
Everyone from the main cast of the first season of the revival will return. As for the way the storyline will work, there will be a bit of a hybrid between the serialized and the procedural format to work for both old-school Criminal Minds fans and the way Evolution brought us one main UnSub to catch.
Criminal Minds: Evolution is available to stream on Paramount+.
