SWAT Season 7 is still happening, and the premiere is just around the corner. Here’s everything we know about the final season of the series.

At one point, it didn’t look like SWAT Season 7 was going to happen. CBS canceled the series, only to end up un-canceling it days later. Despite the dual strikes over the summer, the plan is still to bring us this final season of the series.

We do have a premiere date to make it clear that the show will return. Here’s what we do know about this final season, with updates to come as they happen.

When will SWAT Season 7 premiere on CBS?

CBS has set the return dates for its shows. While the majority of the shows were planned for the fall, the dual WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes made that impossible. So, CBS has had to rework the plans, with mid-February being the time for the majority of shows to come back.

That includes SWAT Season 7. It will premiere on Friday, Feb. 16. The series will kick off the Friday night of dramas, which includes Fire Country and Blue Bloods.

Episodes will air on Paramount+ the day after they air on CBS.

How many episodes are in Season 7 of SWAT?

When CBS did a U-turn on the cancellation of the series, it was with the caveat that it would be the final season of the series. CBS even set the episode count to 13 episodes.

There are no signs that this has changed with the strike action. Most CBS shows will be between 10 and 13 episodes, and we know this show is pretty fast in production. In fact, it was one of the first shows to get back to a full season in the pandemic year because of how fast production is, so 13 episodes shouldn’t be a problem.

Who will return for the final season of SWAT?

We are expecting the main cast to return to the series. That means we should see:

  • Shemar Moore as Sergeant Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson Jr.
  • Alex Russell as Officer James “Jim” Street
  • Kenny Johnson as Officer Dominique Luca
  • David Lim as Officer Victor Tan
  • Patrick St. Esprit as Commander Robert “Bob” Hicks
  • Rochelle Aytes as Nichelle Carmichael
  • Jay Harrington as Sergeant David “Deacon” Kay
  • Anna Enger Ritch as Zoe Powell

We would love to see Lina Esco return as Chris. She was an important part of the first five seasons of the series before she made the choice to leave. However, we know Chris is still in the area and is dating Street. Wouldn’t it be great to see her cameo at least for the series finale?

What to expect in SWAT Season 7

This final season needs to wrap up a few personal storylines for the characters. The previous season ended with Hondo and Nichelle’s baby arriving, so we’re sure to see some storylines of the two navigating parenthood. There are a few parents in the team who could help with this.

The sixth season also saw the end of Bonnie and Tan’s marriage. Tan learned that Bonnie was having an affair, and she clearly wasn’t going to fight for her marriage. That’s a heartbreaking situation to be in, and it should have more of a lasting effect on Tan. This should be devled into more as he gets to the end of the series.

We also know that Deacon is managing his private security firm. Could we see him retire from SWAT at the end of the season to run the private security firm full-time?

The character we could see retire is Hicks. After all, he’s been on the force for some time, and now could be the time to see him end his career and pass on the baton of commander to someone else.
