With the SAG-AFTRA strike now at an end, we’re closer to getting Chicago PD back on our screens. Here’s what we know about Chicago PD Season 11.

We are more than ready to get our favorite Chicago cops back. Intelligence is sure to be back with a bang, but it’s taken some time to get any news about it. That’s all due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes throughout the summer, and as the two come to an end, we get updates about our favorite TV shows.

Chicago PD Season 11 has started production. We know when it will premiere, and we have an idea of who will return. Here’s everything that we know about the season so far.

When will Chicago PD Season 11 premiere on NBC?

The series will be back in January. Yes, January. NBC has set premiere dates much earlier than its network TV counterparts, which could be great for the linear ratings. It could also mean a big hiatus in the spring, as well.

Chicago PD Season 11 will premiere on Wednesday, Jan. 17. The episode will end the One Chicago night at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC as usual. And if you do miss it live, you can turn to Peacock the following day to catch up.

How many episodes are in Chicago PD Season 11?

The original plan was to have between 18 and 20 episodes to the season. Various cast members would be missing from time to time to help reduce the costs of production. However, the SAG-AFTRA strike has made it impossible to get the full season.

Instead, we’re probably looking at around 13 episodes to the season. This could mean that all characters will be around for the full season.

This would likely mean a break around March or April. After all, NBC is surely going to want its big shows to still wrap up their seasons in May.

Who will return to Season 11 of Chicago PD?

Right now, we’re expecting the full cast to return. This includes Patrick John Flueger as Adam Ruzek, despite the way things ended in Season 10. While Adam hadn’t woken up yet, it did sound like surgery went well and he’ll make a full recovery.

So, that means we are expecting the following:

  • Jason Beghe as Detective Sergeant Hank Voight
  • Patrick John Flueger as Adam Ruzek
  • LaRoyce Hawkins as Kevin Atwater
  • Tracy Spiridakos as Hailey Upton Halstead
  • Marina Squerciati as Kim Burgess
  • Benjamin Levy Aguilar as Dante Torres
  • Amy Morton as Trudy Platt

However, there was some bad news to come with Chicago PD Season 11. This will be Spiridakos’s final season. It’s not clear what Upton will do during the season, but she’s going to be gone by the end of it. Could she ride off into the sunset with Jay Halstead, who left during Season 10? Could she decide that it’s time to move on? We’ll have to see.

What to expect in Chicago PD Season 11

The new season is sure to pick up with what happened to Adam at the end of the previous season. He was shot and left for dead. Fortunately, he was able to make a call and ended up in life-saving surgery. That looked like it went well, so this season should focus on his recovery and the aftermath of the events.

We’ll also likely see more of Upton as she deals with her personal issues. Throughout Season 10, she handled Jay’s abrupt exit and then his subsequent ghosting. Will she finally get some answers from it, and will it lead to divorce papers?

It would also be great to see more of Trudy Platt. At the end of Chicago Fire Season 11, Mouch’s life was left on the line. PD could be a chance to explore how she is handling that, whether Mouch lives or dies.

Could the Beck storyline come back up? While Richard Beck was killed at the end of the 10th season, Callum made it clear that he would get his revenge. He had clearly been indoctrinated by his grandfather, and now he is out for blood. Could that put the lives of all of Intelligence on the line, or will it end up being another storyline forgotten about and discarded?

Chicago PD is available to stream on Peacock.
