NCIS: Sydney has already established itself as a great new hit and a fine entry in the NCIS franchise. Here’s a peek at Episode 4.
With the team established, the last episode of the new spin-off had the NCIS Sydney unit pulled into a strange case when a shark spat out the arm of a retired Navy SEAL. The team talked to the guy’s co-workers at a dive company who seemed to be smuggling drugs. It turned out they had stumbled onto some sort of data drive and were being blackmailed into keeping it quiet.
One of the guy’s buddies had gotten into a fight regarding the drive and what to do about it and ended up killing him and feeding him to a shark. The other two men found the buyer of the disc and tried to drown him for revenge, but the team managed to stop him.
However, just as the buyer was about to be arrested, Colonel Rankin, the DoD honcho the team butted heads with on the first episode, showed up to take the guy away. Mackey and JD confronted him in his office for the theory the data drive would have shown the CIA was spying on Australian subs. They threatened to leak that to the press unless he let the dive shop team go.
During all this, Blue was convinced she was going to be leaving the team once her injured predecessor McNamara came back. Instead, she was happy to hear McNamara had given the okay for Blue to be a permanent member.
So, the team is now fully set and just in time for another wild episode.
What to expect on NCIS: Sydney Season 1, Episode 4
“Ghosted” puts the team on a long, cold murder mystery that may tie in with Mackey’s own past.
"“When a U.S. petty officer’s body is found in Sydney’s historic and haunted Rocks area, a decades-old Navy Cross medal holds the clue to solving the murder, leading the team on a wild ghost chase to catch a killer.”"
The promo hints it’s going to be a classic battle of wits between Mackey and the suspect that will also tie to hints on her past and what drove her to join NCIS. The show has been doing a good job exploring the backstories of the characters, and this episode should get NCIS: Sydney off on a great ride for the coming holiday season.
NCIS: Sydney Season 1 airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on CBS and streams the following day on Paramount+.
