While School Spirits is set to haunt us for a second season, fans are eager to see what Season 2 has in store. The supernatural teen mystery took viewers on a crazy ride during its debut season.
In June 2023, Variety reported that the show was renewed for a second season. Which gave viewers a huge sigh of relief after the first season ended in a shocking cliffhanger. Megan Trinrud and Nate Trinrud, who created the series, are on board for Season 2, along with showrunner Oliver Goldstick.
In the series, Maddie Nears, played to perfection by Peyton List, is a teen girl stuck in purgatory in her high school. While trapped there with the spirits of other dead students, Maddie attempted to find out what happened to her and who killed her.
Unfortunately, due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, production was pushed back on the show. And that makes the wait for a season 2 premiere of School Spirits even longer.
When will School Spirits Season 2 premiere?
Paramount+, when it announced School Spirits renewal, stated that production on the new season wouldn’t even begin until 2024. That is most likely due to the strikes, but the actor’s schedules could also play a role. So, fans might not see Split River High again until 2025. Yikes!
For example, List is also part of the show Cobra Kai. She may have to channel Maddie once her commitment to the show Cobra Kai is over.
Who will return for School Spirits Season 2?
There hasn’t been any formal cast announcement yet. But it is reasonable to expect the following actors to join List. Spencer MacPherson (Xavier), Milo Manheim (Wally), Kristian Ventura (Simon), Sarah Yarkin (Rhonda), and Nick Pugliese (Charley.)
We don’t have any other details on Season 2 yet. Since the first season treated viewers to eight episodes, it is logical to assume that the new season will have that many, if not more.
And one thing that we do know for sure? Maddie’s quest, based on School Spirits season one finale, just became a lot more complicated. Now she has to locate Janet, who is headed out of town, and find out what Mr. Martin has been hiding. Something about that fire that killed him back in the 1950’s, perhaps? All while trying to convince her living friend Simon that she isn’t part of his imagination. It sounds like Maddie will have her hands full in Season 2.
