Mr. Monk’s Last Case is already setting up a sequel

With the title “Mr. Monk’s Last Case,” you would expect that to be the final installment in the whole franchise. Well, it looks like a sequel is happening.

There is no doubt that fans loved hearing that a Monk movie was in the works. The series was loved by so many, bringing us a very different detective to the ones that we’re so used to seeing on our screens.

The pandemic wasn’t kind to a lot of people. We got to see what it was like for Adrian Monk in Mr. Monk’s Last Case.

The title of the movie certainly suggests that it would be it. This was Monk’s final hurrah, and at one point in the movie, we feared that would be the case. Then the ending came, and it’s clear that this isn’t necessarily the end.

Will Mr. Monk’s Last Case get a sequel?

Peacock hasn’t confirmed that there is a sequel in the works just yet. That being said, the ending to Mr. Monk’s Last Case made it clear that this isn’t necessarily the end. The title certainly was misleading.

At the end of the movie, it looked like Monk was going to kill himself to join his wife in the afterlife. However, the ghosts of past victims came to see him along with the ghost of his wife, making it clear that there was still work on Earth for him to do. It wasn’t his time yet.

The ending to the movie even told us what the next case could be. A spirit came to Monk to tell him that her body was in a freezer. She needed his help to solve her murder. That led to Molly turning to Monk looking for help. With a smile, Monk decided that his life was worth living and it looks like he has a murder to solve. It sets everything up for a sequel perfectly.
