When there are multiple shows in a franchise, there are discussions of a crossover event. What about NCIS crossovers with the latest addition to that franchise?

There are so many great franchises out there. One of the biggest is NCIS, which technically started with JAG. There have been some great additions to the franchise over the years, and we’ve just had a new one that takes fans to a whole new country. NCIS: Sydney is a huge success for CBS.

Now fans want to know if we could see any crossover events. Is it even possible to create a crossover event with this one? There are some logistics that need to be factored in here—and not just for filming!

Could NCIS crossovers with Sydney work?

One of the biggest logistics is getting the cast across to multiple locations. Flying from Los Angeles to Hawaii and vice versa isn’t that bad. The cast would need to fly between the United States and Australia for a three-way crossover event with NCIS: Sydney.

That isn’t something that prevents NCIS crossovers happening completely. However, there is the need to factor in flight time for the storyline in the show. It would take 14 hours from Washington D.C. to Hawaii, and then 10 hours from Hawaii to Sydney. So, a storyline would need to make sense to have the team members flying all over the place.

Another way to manage crossovers is through the video screens. This is something that happened a lot with NCIS: New Orleans and the parent show where the teams would connect in the secure room.

In an interview with TVLine, showrunner Morgan O’Neill talked about NCIS crossovers and said they would happen if they could work. If not full crossovers, we could see some guest appearances here and there. This, at least, makes it feel like the shows are within the same universe—and it can help to get people intrigued in the other shows if they only watch one or two of them.
