NCIS: Sydney has had a great run on CBS so far, so it seems crazy that we don’t know about a second season yet. What are the chances of it being renewed?
All eyes are on renewals and cancellations. We’re expecting a few of those to come later in the year compared to normal due to the way the 2023–2024 schedule has worked out with the strike action. However, the shows that premiered in the fall should have enough episodes to tell us if there’s a chance of renewal or not.
In fact, we got some great news from NBC about its two new crime dramas, The Irrational and Found. Now our eyes are on other networks. NCIS: Sydney has been the new one for CBS. It was an immediate hit with the network, which wasn’t all that surprising. Not only is it another NCIS spin-off, but it premiered in the old Tuesday 8/7c timeslot that was popular for the OG series.
So far, there has been no word on a renewal, which is surprising. What are the chances of Season 2 happening?
Will NCIS: Sydney Season 2 happen at CBS?
Chances look good for the series. It’s possible that CBS wants to see how other shows perform in the new year first, but the series as been great for this strange fall season that we’ve had. It is the top performer on the network, pulling in an average of 5.1 million viewers. It’s one of the most popular new shows on all of broadcast.
The numbers are even relatively on par with CBS in previous seasons—while not the main NCIS series, a lot of other shows on the network. The demo is down, but the total audience numbers are good. This should help to secure a second season.
A shorter season order will benefit the show’s slightly lower demo. CBS will also want to take into account that there wasn’t that much promotion around the series compared to other shows and the different fall season we’ve had.
NCIS: Sydney airs on Tuesdays at 8/7c on CBS. Catch up on Paramount+.
