2023 brought some excellent new crime shows

2023 threw off some TV viewers with the SAG and WGA strikes delaying the fall TV season. However, there was still a lot for fans of crime shows to enjoy. That included new seasons for Only Murders in the Building and some thrilling spy action shows like The Night Agent among others. Sure, we had some duds, but also a few mild fun ones like Alert and Found.

Figuring out the best among new TV shows is tricky, but 2023 had a lot of great offerings. Some shows were huge hits and came back, while others sadly only lasted one year. However, these stand out as the ten best new crime series of 2023 and showcase how much fun crime buffs had checking out the tube this year.

10. The Company You Keep

This ABC series never quite caught on with viewers, which is a shame, given how much fun it was. The plotline of a con man (Milo Ventimiglia) and a CIA agent (Catherine Heana Kim) engaging in a romance may have been cliche. But the series had great touches, from the con artist family pulling complex scams to the battle against a ruthless mobster while the CIA muddled things up.

The two leads had fantastic chemistry to balance out every twist and turn, and the ending may have worked as a series finale, but the promise of more adventures to come. It’s too bad ABC didn’t give the series more time to blossom into the fun romantic caper it promised to be.
