911: Nashville crossovers possible thanks to its fall 2025 timeslot

When 911 moved to ABC, the crossovers with 911: Lone Star weren't all that possible. That changes for 911: Nashville.

Fall will be here before we know it, and that means some of the new shows begin. One of them is 911: Nashville, which gets the Doctor Odyssey timeslot from this year. Get ready for a packed Thursday night of live saving drama.

Things will kick off with 911 season 9, and then we’ll get an hour of 911: Nashville before closing out the night with Grey’s Anatomy. Thanks to the timeslot of the new 911 spinoff, it means something is possible that wasn’t with 911: Lone Star. Yes, it’s all about crossover events.

911 and 911: Lone Star crossed over once

From the beginning of 911: Lone Star, it was made clear that the two shows were definitely in the same universe. Judd mentioned Chimney’s injury from the very first episode of 911! After that, it opened the door for crossover events, but with the two shows being set in different cities, a relevant storyline was needed.

Insert the Texas wildfire disaster, which would have brought in crews from around the country. Then there was a crossover moment later with Athena showing up on a video call with Carlos as he worked a case.

Since 911 moved to ABC and 911: Lone Star remained on FOX, the crossover events stopped. It was much harder with the two networks and the two different nights that the shows would air. Things are changing with 911: Nashville.

The 911: Nashville timeslot makes crossover events possible

ABC opted to make 911 and 911: Nashville a two-hour block on Thursday nights, which was the best decision if crossover events are happening. As Deadline says, the two-hour block makes these events possible. The shows run back-to-back, meaning that there is closure within the night. It’s very similar to the three-hour crossover events running on NBC for One Chicago Wednesdays or the two-hour Law & Order event that the two shows recently had.

Still, the storyline will need to be there. The two shows remain in different states, and there will need to be a viable reason for the two teams to need to team up.

If one of the 118 is a country music fan, we could see some of them head there and end up in the middle of a disaster at the Grand Ole Opry. Or maybe one of the Nashville crew wants to head to Hollywood or just wants to vacation in Los Angeles, leading to them being around for a major disaster once more. It is much easier with the bigger budgets, same network, and same night.

911 and 911: Nashville will air Thursdays in fall 2025 on ABC.
