After such a jarring episode of 911 last week, we can’t imagine going back to a regular episode without crying. However, the next episode seems lighter in comparison to such a surprise break up that occurred in the episode. Although, the promo for season 8, episode 7 appears to acknowledge a previous incident involving Evan Buckley. Although considering how the events of the last episode played out, surely it will just throw us all for a curveball again.
The promo appears to be taking us back to the “Hotshots” set, which is where Bobby worked before he came back to the team. One of the actors who plays a firefighter is stuck and hanging from a ladder.
What will happen when 911 returns to the Hotshots set on season 8, episode 7?
In the promo, we see a brief shot of Buck looking at the ladder, so it would be fitting that he might think about what happened when he was struck by lightning. It could also be a red herring, but we are interested to see if it means anything. In episode 6, a call at a well did seem to be reminiscent of “Eddie Begins,” but the moment was more about Chimney.
We’ll also likely see how Buck is handling the breakup between him and Tommy, which was a shocker for many fans who were not expecting it, including us. However it plays out for Buck, we hope that the show treats him with respect in regards to how he deals with being single once again. Actor Oliver Stark shared a photo in his stories from the episode, so we will see some adorable Uncle Buck and Jee-Yun Buckley Han moments. Maybe that will help heal our broken hearts for a minute or two.
Even though the synopsis is out, it doesn’t give us much to work with. It briefly mentions the call we see in the promo when the 118 goes back to the “Hotshots” set. Will seeing the ladder truck affect Buck, since he recently dealt with his death? He’ll already be going through a lot so having a memory like that could be triggering. Or, they could surprise us entirely, especially since the show is nearing the midseason finale before the holiday break.
Timeline wise, it’s been a year or so, so he might be doing okay if he sees someone hanging from a ladder like that. But given recent events, how long can he keep up a possible act of being fine?
"When Athena is assigned a rookie to mentor, she begins to question her own abilities. Meanwhile, Bobby and the 118 return to the set of "HOT SHOTS" following a 911 call."
It also appears that Athena will be shadowing a rookie, which makes her question her ability to be a mentor. Athena has made questionable decisions on the job, so we’ll have to see exactly what this means for her. Other than that, there is so much we don’t know about where the season is headed.
911 airs Thursdays on ABC at 8/7c. You can catch up the next day on Hulu.
