911 season 9 episode 10 that had so much happening that when it ended on a shocking cliffhanger, we were left surprised. While Chimney was dealing with nightmares about Harry beginning his job as a probie, Hen and Eddie’s involvement in a court case involving a previous call left someone close to Eddie in danger.
Starting off with Chimney, he got his first taste of trying to tackle a new probie, but not just any probie; it was Harry. He found himself having nightmares of the young firefighter being hurt on his watch, and it caused him to prevent Harry from going on any calls. He even refused to let Harry make a coffee run, leaving it to Ravi to do it instead.

No one wanted to tell Chimney he was being so difficult, so they contacted Hen and told her to talk to him. Hen told Chimney everyone was comparing him to Captain Gerrard, which Chimney balked at. However, Hen did have a point that he needed to let Harry actually do his job so he could learn how to keep himself safe and not get killed because he had no experience.
Realizing he was allowing his fears to prevent Harry from getting the experience he needed, Chimney went to talk to him. He told Harry about his first year of working as a probie, and how it took someone believing in him for him to become the firefighter he is today.
This was solid advice from Chimney, who was letting his fear prevent him from letting Harry do anything other than just sit in the firehouse. Plus, we’ve also noticed Chimney has been rather harsh with Buck lately, something as his Captain, he needs to do less of. Maybe seeing how Buck has taken Harry under his wing will allow Chimney to not only see his growth, but also allow him to be a better captain for Harry and the rest of the team.

Eddie might be in over his head when a victim from a call imprints on him
911 season 9 episode 10 also brought back the case involving Abigail, the young woman who was held captive by her family and a religious cult during 911 season 9, episode 5. Hen and Eddie both testified at the trial, although an attempt to discredit Eddie by bringing up his anger issues from season 2 didn’t help. For some reason, they brought up an incident in which he punched a man with whom he got into it when he was using disabled parking after dropping Christopher off at a birthday party.
This was to establish Eddie’s previous bouts with anger for when Abigail approached Eddie after trial was over. She didn’t remember much of the rescue, but she did recognize Eddie and seemed to be taken by him. Abigail told Eddie she already aged out of foster care and her grandmother left her with just her car.
Eddie offered to help Abigail, bringing her to the firehouse and calling Alex Doyle to come set her up for residential housing. She got Abigail set up with a faith-based facility to help her heal from her trauma and set her up to take care of herself moving forward.
After helping her, Eddie thought things were good, but then Abigail showed up at his house as he was having dinner with Christopher. Eddie invited her in, and it was pretty awkward all the way around. From Abigail questioning Eddie about Alex to an awkward hug in the kitchen, it seemed clear that Abigail was growing infatuated with Eddie.
As if things weren’t bad enough, Abigail later showed up at Christopher’s school to pick him up, claiming that Eddie asked her to get him. Why didn’t Christopher immediately find this suspicious we’re not sure, but now it’s anyone’s guess what she is planning to do. Is she actually taking him to mess with Eddie, or is something else going on?

Bobby is still present even when he is not on 911
This episode was well done, and the emergencies tied into the theme of the episode. It involved overprotective family members who just wanted to keep their loved ones safe, but had to learn to let them be who they were and to live their lives. This was especially true for Harry and Chimney, as the latter had to be comfortable with Harry growing into his own person now that he was part of the 118.
Although even with the storyline involving Harry and the 118, we have to shoutout the scene with Harry, May, and Athena. He was gifted Bobby’s knife, and then they gave him a brand new knife, telling Harry that if Bobby were here, he would give Harry his own so he could stand on his own two feet. This was such a touching gesture, and Harry told them he wished Bobby could be there. We all wish he were, too, Harry.
Now, after that cliffhanger of an episode, we will have to wait for a few weeks before a new episode airs. The promo that aired after the episode revealed the next episode would not be out until Thursday, Feb 26. So until we find out what is happening with Christopher, you can catch up on previous episodes on Hulu.
911 airs Thursdays on ABC at 8/7c and streams the following day on Hulu.
