After wondering all winter break what was going on with Hen, we didn’t get too many answers in the winter premiere. However, we did see the entire firehouse learn the truth about her health problems, and that led to Chimney having no choice but to let her go. We get to see the consequences of that on 911 season 9 episode 8.

Athena is angry that Chimney would fire Hen for this mistake. The problem is that Hen didn’t just put herself at risk. She put others and innocent victims at risk. Had Hen collapsed in the building, it could have meant a missing child for longer and two other firefighters in the burning building trying to save the two of them. Chimney had no choice but to fire Hen, and Hen could have prevented it all by being honest and just having herself benched at the firehouse for some time.

What to expect on 911 season 9 episode 8

The new episode won’t just focus on the 118 without Hen and Athena’s anger toward Chimney for that. It will also focus on trouble coming to dispatch, as AI starts to take over. Of course, everyone wants to see how technology like AI can make jobs easier and more proficient, but there is a danger, as well. Sarah, the AI voice of the system, will put a patient at risk of death trying to save them.

To the AI, reducing blood flow is the best way to save someone from a cut that won’t stop bleeding. The problem is that when it’s on the neck, it can lead to people wrapping things around them and cutting off airflow. With Maddie and the others locked out of the system, she needs to turn to her firefighter husband to get immediate care to the person who needs it. Hopefully, this will mean no more AI at dispatch.

911 airs on Thursdays at 8/7c on ABC and streams the following day on Hulu.
