911 fans rejoice! It has been revealed that ABC has decided to renew the hit Ryan Murphy series for season 9. Find out what we know so far in the wake of the recent renewal announcements for the network.
Variety reported the series will be coming back for season 9 with a full season order of 18 episodes. So far in season 8, there have been plenty of adventures starring Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Oliver Stark, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi, and Ryan Guzman.
Recurring stars include Anirudh Pisharody, Tracie Thoms, and Lou Ferrigno Jr., who made waves the last two seasons as Stark’s character Evan “Buck” Buckley’s new boyfriend, Tommy Kinard. Season 8 has seen the couple dealing with the aftermath of a breakup as Buck is now trying to figure out if this is a relationship he will keep pursuing.
What's to come in 911 season 8 still?
Also in season 8, we got to see Bassett and Krause’s characters Athena and Bobby prepare to move into a new house. However, rumors recently began running rampant about the fate of Bobby as video arose of 911 recently filming a funeral procession. However, nothing has been announced or cleared up, so it is possible this is a sequence that could be a dream. But with the renewal news, fans are hopeful we’ll continue to see the couple in season 9.
We also are excited to see Maddie Han and her husband, Chimney, welcome a new baby boy to their family, alongside daughter Jee-Yun. Season 8 saw Maddie in danger after taking a 911 call from a serial killer. Hopefully we will see her through the rest of the season out of immediate danger.
There has also been excitement to see more of the storyline between Hen and Karen Wilson, whose family has also grown after they adopted their daughter, Mara. Fans have loved to see their bond and relationship form alongside the Han family and we hope season 9 will include so many moments between them as well!
Fans have also been concerned about the fate of Eddie Diaz and his son, Christopher. Eddie made the big move to Texas after realizing it seemed like his son didn’t plan on coming back. But is this a permanent move or will Eddie and Chris come back? We’re still waiting on those answers as season 8 continues to play out.
911 airs Thursdays on ABC at 8/7c. There are still a little more than a handful of episodes left of the season, so make sure to keep an eye out for more coverage on Precinct TV.
Hulu has all previous seasons of 911 available, so you can rewatch before season 9 comes for the 2025-2026 television season.
