True crime shows are a guilty pleasure for me and several other television and streaming service viewers across the world. Each year, new documentaries come out, seasons of our favorite shows are renewed, and new ones are started. What results is way more shows being released than one person can realistically watch over a year.
Deciding what to watch is a difficult decision. That is why, below, I’ve compiled a list of 9 true crime shows from 2025, on television and streaming, that you can watch.
Evil Lives Here season 18
Having run for nearly a decade and starting with spine-chilling intro music, Evil Lives Here is one of my favorite true crime series. Having aired its 18th season between July and September of 2025, each episode focuses on one to two people who, bravely, recount the trauma and abuse they endured at the hands of their tormentor. The relationship between victim and tormentor varies from episode to episode, including children abused by parents, parents dealing with children who are more than problematic, abusive relationships, and dangerous siblings.
Evil Lives Here shows us that, sometimes, the most dangerous people are the ones right next to us. With season 18 having received a 7.9 out of 10 rating on IMDb, hopefully, it will continue to share the stories of survivors in 2026.
Evil Lives Here season 18 is available to stream on discovery+ and HBO Max.
Ruby & Jodi: A Cult of Sin and Influence
Fans were stunned when YouTuber and family vlogger Ruby Franke, and her business partner Jodi Hildebrandt, were arrested back in September 2023 for six counts of felony child abuse. Once the whole story came out, it was unbelievable: Ruby’s abuse before she met Jodi, Jodi worming her way into the family’s life, putting a divide between Ruby and her husband, and her ultimate treatment of the kids.
A four-episode docuseries released on Investigation Discovery in September 2025, Ruby & Jodi: A Cult of Sin and Influence tells the full story of Ruby and Jodi. It is revealed that Ruby was never as ‘perfect’ as she made the internet believe and dives deeper into Jodi than the news did, talking to previous victims including her niece, Jessie.
What these two women did was sickening and should never be forgotten. Thankfully, with a 7/10 rating and availability on multiple platforms, it most likely won’t.
Ruby & Jodi: A Cult of Sin and Influence is available to stream on discovery+ and HBO Max.
Signs of a Psychopath season 10
Relying strictly on police interrogation videos, interviews with professionals, and, sometimes, nine-one-one calls, Signs of a Psychopath ion Investigation Discovery s direct and to the point. Episodes either run for half an hour and follow one crime, or are a compilation of different types of psychopaths.
As the interrogation plays out, it gets interspersed with explanations from forensic and psychological professionals, allowing viewers to get a look into the psychopath's head and understand how they think, as well as making comparisons between psychopaths and non-psychopaths.
As cameras don’t lie, everything on full display. The lack of emotion or empathy, the cold calculating nature, or even the smugness of every murderer Signs of a Psychopath exposes viewers to is disturbing, yet it’s impossible to look away, as the ratings show.
Signs of a Psychopath is available to stream on discovery+ and HBO Max.
Snapped season 35
Running since 2004, Snapped is a true-crime series from Oxygen True Crime that tells the stories of people, usually women, who, as the title suggests, snap and, ultimately, suffer the consequences of their fatal actions. Each episode, titled after who the killer is, runs for an hour and goes into detail, like Investigation Discovery, with interviews from friends, family, investigators, and legal professionals.
Despite the fact that who the killer is always spoiled if you look at the title, Snapped is a great show to watch when sitting down to dinner. With new episodes running from January to October of this year, season 35 has more than enough for new viewers to catch up on.
Snapped is available to stream on Peacock.
Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer
Available on Netflix, this three-part series tells the true story of the hunt for the Long Island serial killer through the eyes of victims, their families, and the police. The case, also referred to as the Gilgo Beach Murders, occurred from 1993 to 2011. It wasn’t until July 13, 2023, that the suspect, Rex Heuermann, was arrested and is currently awaiting trial.
The documentary, earning a 7.1 rating, tells the whole story: from the first victim to the tip that finally led investigators to cracking the case. A documentary that reminds us to never give up or lose hope, Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer is a must-see for Long Islanders and true crime fans alike.
Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer is available to stream on Netflix.
Kentucky Murder Mystery: The Trials of Anthony Gray
Available on multiple streaming platforms, including discovery+ and HBO Max, Kentucky Murder Mystery: The Trials of Anthony Gray, takes a look back at the 2007 murder of James and Vivian Gray. According to Scott County prosecutors, Antony Gray, the couple's only son, killed them to inherit their riches, claiming to have evidence of a confession on camera.
This "evidence," however, was later found to be forged by police and ultimately thrown out by the state Supreme Court. Starting at square one, the police have to find actual evidence against Anthony Gray or, if he didn’t do it, whoever did. What do you think is the truth? There’s only one way to find out.
Kentucky Murder Mystery: The Trials of Anthony Gray is available to stream on discovery+ and HBO Max.
Cable television or streaming, ultimately, the choice is up to whoever is holding the remote. Thankfully for them, whatever decision they make, there is plenty to choose from.
