It’s a bittersweet moment for Blue Bloods fans. We’re saying goodbye to the series this week, Friday, Dec. 13. It marks the end of an era.

The good news is that you can get your hands on the DVD boxsets. Tuesday, Dec. 17 will mark the release of both the Blue Bloods season 14 DVD boxset and the Complete Series boxset. We’ve had the opportunity to review both, and we’ll bring individual review posts for each of them. We’re starting with the season 14 DVD boxset.

What is included in the Blue Bloods season 14 DVD boxset?

This is great for those who already have all previous 13 seasons on DVD. You don’t need to spend the money on the Complete Series. However, if you are missing some of the boxsets, I’d recommend getting the full series.

As for the Blue Bloods season 14 DVD boxset, you’ll get all 18 episodes across the five discs available. This tells the full story all the way to the very end, bringing us to what this bittersweet finale is set to be. I’m not sharing any details about the series finale in this post—there’s no need to worry about spoilers.

There are also more than 70 minutes of special features. One of those is a featurette that brings us the story of the Reagan family, looking back at the events of season 14.

My favorite part is the gag reel. I just love getting to see how the actors break character and what they get up to on set. It’s easy to forget that they’re just humans when it comes to them working. We can forget that the personalities of the characters are not the personalities of the actors, and the gag reel gives us a chance to see inside.

Picture, sound, and subtitles

The series comes in Widescreen with English 5.1 Dolby Digital sound.

One thing I am a little disappointed in is that only English is offered for subtitles. It would have been great to have a couple of other languages to make the boxset a little more accessible. I do think it’s becoming an issue for a lot of companies, though.

Blue Bloods season 14 will come to DVD on Tuesday, Dec. 17.

Catch up with the series on Paramount+ if you don’t want the DVD boxset.
