Is Bobby's continued MIA status setting up a Tracker season 3 story?

Bobby hasn't been seen in Tracker season 2 since episode 9. Could the latest development help set up an ongoing storyline in season 3?

Since Tracker season 2, episode 9, hacker Bobby has been mysteriously MIA. The disappearance continues, and it could set up a storyline for Tracker season 3.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Tracker season 2, episode 15.

When Bobby first disappeared, we weren’t too worried, and neither was Colter Shaw. We’re used to TV shows seeing cast members take some time off now and then, usually as a way to keep the costs of the show down.

At first, the MIA status was explained by taking care of personal business. Bobby’s cousin Randy stepped in to help Colter, and all seemed well. It looked like Bobby would be back in a couple of episodes.

Well, more than a couple of episodes have gone on now. Tracker season 2, episode 15 saw Randy pick up the phone again, and now Colter is more than a little worried.

Bobby has been ghosting everyone in Tracker season 2

It turns out that Bobby is ghosting people. He didn’t answer the phone to Colter, and Randy explained that Bobby hasn’t answered his calls either. While Colter is worried, Randy is not. This is normal for the hacker, who Randy says is dealing with a friend’s funeral.

Colter hasn’t seen this happen before with Bobby, though. In fact, when Bobby had a personal matter, he actually turned to Colter for help in the first season, so him ghosting doesn’t make sense. This could suggest that Bobby is in danger.

Now with seven episodes left, we could see Colter help Bobby before the second season ends. However, this could set up a longer storyline in Tracker season 3.

A Tracker season 2 cliffhanger could tell Colter his next big case

Each season of Tracker so far has focused on some sort of big case. The first season was focused on Tracker figuring out who killed his father — that’s not worked out just yet. During the second season, he’s been focused on his white whale case, searching for what happened to Gina. It would make sense for Tracker season 3 to have another big, ongoing case to solve, and why not have that be one focused on Bobby?

The season 2 finale could help set that up. Randy could call Colter to tell him that there is something wrong, even admitting that he was starting to sense it a while ago but downplayed it all. Or he could end up hacking into Bobby’s things to find out what’s really going on. This then allows Colter to start a search for his hacker friend in the Tracker season 3 premiere, with a possibility of solving it early on in the season. With questions still about Colter’s dad and the Shaw family as a whole, Bobby could even find something out about that.

However, I would say that if Bobby has gone missing this early in the season, it’s more likely to be a Tracker season 2 storyline.

Tracker airs on Sundays at 8/7c on CBS.
