911 season 9 is just a little under a month away. In a preview for what to expect for the new season, we got some tidbits about Evan “Buck” Buckley thanks to a sneak peek from Oliver Stark.
The TVLine preview made mention of some things going on in Buck’s world, including a new home for the firefighter! Buck will be living in a “cool, little house” that Stark also described as having more “character” than his previous apartment.
He had briefly lived in the home of his co-worker and best friend, Eddie Diaz (Ryan Guzman) before ultimately moving out once the latter returned following the death of their captain, Bobby Nash (Peter Krause). In the end, Buck said that it didn’t truly feel like it was his own home.
At the end of 911 season 8, Buck was seen looking at homes with a realtor, who was actually played by the same actress who was in the season 2 finale, helping Buck when he found his loft! Now with a new home in 911 season 9, we could see Buck get to make a house of his home. Before moving to LA, he travelled all over the country, including a short stint in Peru that eventually brought him to LA.
From essentially living with roommates to staying at his ex’s apartment to being in the loft for a bulk of the show’s run, this will be the first time Buck has a home he can call his own. Buck has had a difficult road since season 8, losing not only his father figure in his captain but also going through a break up.

Will Buck find love again in 911 season 9?
Even though it looked like he might have reunited with his ex-boyfriend Tommy Kinard (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) after an intimate encounter in Season 8, things were left up in the air between the two. While Stark said in the preview that Buck may not be “in the right place” for romance, there is still a chance things could change. There is no official confirmation that we will see Tommy again, but there are fans hoping for a reunion, especially after Tommy’s return to help Buck save the life of friend and colleague Howie “Chimney” Han (Kenny Choi) and attending Bobby’s funeral.
For right now, it is a good idea for Buck to focus on building his home and going through grief before making any big life decisions. If there is a chance for romance, we want him to be in the right headspace for it so he knows what he truly wants and goes for it. Whether it be with Tommy again or someone new, fans just want to see Buck happy and settled in his life.
The preview also mentioned Buck’s dynamic with Eddie and his son, Christopher (Gavin McHugh), who he has always had a good relationship with. When asked if fans would see more of them, he responded, “Those are two very important relationships, so to speak, and I know for sure that there will be some of that coming up as we move forward.”
While we do look forward to seeing how Eddie and Buck's friendship goes forward in the wake of their argument in 911 season 8, episode 17, we do hope Buck has a better friend in Eddie in 911 season 9.

In addition to this dynamic, all of Buck’s relationships are amazing, and we hope to see them all flourish in the wake of the loss the 118 is experiencing.
One thing we won’t see, unfortunately, is Buck in a Halloween costume. Considering that last year’s Halloween happened right before his break up, and the fact he’s still grieving Bobby, it’s understandable he may not be in the Halloween spirit. But we cannot wait to see the costumes in this season!
When 911 returns, the team will be attempting a rescue involving a whale. Actor Mark Consuelos will be appearing on the show (via TV Insider), so we are excited to see how things play out in the three-part premiere. Since the premieres are usually heavy on the rescue front, we might not get to see what is going on with Buck and everyone else right away. But fans are ready to see what is in store for 911 season 9!
911 season 9 premieres on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 8/7c on ABC. You can find previous episodes on Hulu.
