We’re getting closer to the release of a new series on Prime Video, and this is one you’ll want to get stuck into. Butterfly will drop as a binge-watch, so it’s essential to watch the episodes as soon as possible.
Of course, a good cast and knowing a little more about the characters is the way to get into the idea of that. Butterfly is a crime thriller, following a man who “returns from the dead” so to speak. You see, his daughter has long believed him dead, but it turns out that he faked it to protect her from his past life as a spy.
Now that his daughter has been trained in the same lifestyle as him, he’s coming out of hiding to protect her. That means targets on their back that they didn’t think of.

Butterfly is led by Daniel Dae Kim
Lost fans will be excited to see Daniel Dae Kim on their screens again. The actor and producer will lead Butterfly as David Jung.
David is described as a former U.S. intelligence officer who wanted to get a quiet life in South Korea. That isn’t possible when his estranged daughter shows up, and she’s there with the orders to kill him.
That daughter is Rebecca Jung, played by Reina Hardesty. For years, she has believed her dad died, but now she is learning all about his hidden past. Of course, she wants revenge, but she also wants to understand why her dad would even consider taking the actions that he did.
Coyote Ugly’s Piper Perabo is back on our screens, and she’s taking on the role of Juno, a former lawyer and CEO of a private intelligence firm. She and David had a complicated history, and considering Perabo’s role on Grey’s Anatomy recently, it shouldn’t be too surprising to hear that she’s the main antagonist and has trained David’s daughter.
She has a son who also works for the organization, Oliver, who is played by Louis Landau. While he has a good understanding of the missions, he has a need for approval and validation from his mother. Of course, she’s not in the mind to give him that.
Supporting cast of Butterfly
The Prime Video series also has a strong supporting cast. Sung Dong-il and Lee Il-hwa will play Dootae Kim and his wife, while Kim Ji-hoon will play Gun. Daniel Dae Kim has focused on a Korean cast for all the roles necessary, with Park Hae-soo and Kim Tae-hee also part of the cast.
We’ll also see Charles Parnell play Senator George Dawson and Sean Dulake play Hollis. Get ready for many more characters as the series unfolds.
