Despite Paramount+ canceling NCIS: Tony & Ziva, the rest of the NCIS franchise is alive and kicking. CBS has handed out a huge bulk of renewals, and all three shows in the franchise are on the list.
This may come as some surprise, especially when it comes to one of the shows based on the linear ratings. NCIS: Sydney is close to the very bottom of scripted shows on the network, usually leading to a series being canceled. However, there is one thing that this series has going for it: it’s a joint production with Australia.

All three NCIS shows have been renewed
NCIS season 24, NCIS: Origins season 3, and NCIS: Sydney season 4 are all officially happening, according to a press release from CBS. The first two shows arguably come with no surprise at all. While the franchise is no longer the top bill of the network, it remains a strong draw for young and old.
Thanks to having 20+ seasons and many of them being on NCIS, there are newer fans finding out about the series all the time. Plus, there are still plenty of long-time fans remaining loyal until the end. The show has managed to see out a change of cast, with no original cast members part of the flagship series anymore — no, McGee doesn’t count as original! — and if a show can weather that storm, it’s not going anywhere.
In fact, while not as strong as it used to be, NCIS is fourth out of the entire demo on CBS. It sits in second place for all shows on the network, putting it just behind Tracker. So, we weren’t worried about the future of the series.
NCIS: Origins is seventh in the demo out of all scripted shows on the network. It’s a little further behind in eighth place when the entire viewership is taken into account, but it’s a strong enough position to land a renewal, and it’s another show we weren’t all that worried about.

When will the NCIS franchise return in 2026–2027?
Right now, we’re waiting on the three shows returning from their winter breaks, which will now be in March. But what about the new seasons? We could potentially see CBS keeping its NCIS Tuesday block. While NCIS: Sydney sits way down close to the bottom in the demo and audience, the Tuesday late slot is a tricky one anyway, and this show likely appears to be the lowest threat since it’s a joint production with Paramount+ Australia.
Keeping the three shows together does make the most sense, even though Sydney performed better on Fridays. With all three Friday shows now renewed as well, CBS won’t want to change that lineup. The biggest change is likely to come to Mondays and Sundays.
So, we’re expecting all three NCIS shows to return in fall 2026.
