It has been a long two-week break, but Intelligence is finally back with a new case. Chicago PD season 12, episode 16 will bring us a Burgess-centric episode, and it’s about time!

It’s been a while since Burgess has been front and center. The last one was when she made detective after years of waiting for that promotion. Since then, we’ve had focus on Ruzek, Atwater, Torres, and (finally) Voight’s drama with Reid. Now it’s time for Burgess to find herself in the middle of a sticky situation.

A murder at a diner in Chicago PD season 12, episode 16

We’ve had the trailer for the episode since the show went on a break. We know that there’s a murder at a diner. In fact, there’s a mass murder, with four bodies by the sounds of things. All these people were regulars at a diner that Burgess frequents, so she has an idea of what must have happened.

Well, she should. Now she needs to think back on recent events in the diner. Something that seemed small and inconsequential could have played a huge role in the end result.

The title of the episode is “Seen and Unseen,” and I think that connects well to what we see in the promo. A lot goes on around us that we don’t see, but we do see it at the same time. Our minds don’t really focus on it at first. Again, it just seems so inconsequential in our day-to-day lives. It’s a much bigger part of someone else’s day, and Burgess will need to figure out what she saw but didn’t see at the same time.

There are just a handful of episodes left in the season now. We’re expecting at least one more break before the run to the finale, and we’ll be sure to let you know the finale date once NBC confirms it.

Take a look at the promo and synopsis for Chicago PD season 12, episode 16:

"Burgess' memory recall is put to the test following a deadly incident at her local diner."
