It’s not easy being a parent, but most people don’t see danger on a daily basis. Burgess and Ruzek are constantly dealing with murder, and they need to decide whether Canaryville is the right place for Makayla in Chicago PD season 13, episode 3.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS from Chicago PD season 13, episode 3.

The latest episode is set in what is a very real part of Chicago’s South Side. Canaryville has connects to Irish-American people and police, and it’s not surprising that this is where Ruzek grew up and where he now lives with Burgess and Makayla.

However, Burgess has been worried about the area, and we learn at the start of the episode that she’s been looking at private schools for her daughter. That’s all before there’s a murder in their own neighborhood, and Burgess and Ruzek make it clear that they are taking this case.

Did Tommy Walsh kill Sasha King in Chicago PD season 13, episode 3?

The episode is focused on investigating the murder of Sasha King, a 19-year-old who lived with her alcoholic mother, who was grieving the loss of her husband. Now this mother has to deal with the loss of her daughter at the same time.

As Burgess listens to Sasha’s cassette tapes, it soon becomes clear that it was someone close to Sasha who killed her. A photo of Sasha with a boy called Tommy Walsh seems to hint that it could be him. They were romantically involved, but they went through a breakup recently. On top of that, Tommy has a past charge of sexual misconduct. Is it possible that he did it?

When they learn that Tommy’s father is a respected cop, they start to wonder if Frank covered up his son’s actions. As they head out to arrest Tommy, he runs off. He keeps saying that he had nothing to do with Sasha’s murder, but that the drugs on him and the connection to her made him scared, so he ran. When his dad catches wind of Tommy being held by Intelligence, he kicks off and threatens to sue, making it clear that Tommy has legal representation.

Who really killed Sasha?

It was a little bit too obvious to be Tommy, and there’s soon a connection to a friend called Edna, who went to Sasha one night to say that she thought has had been raped by Feldman. Sasha wanted Edna to report it, but Edna was too scared, and this led everyone to Feldman’s house. After all, if Sasha turned Feldman in, his life would be over, so was it possible that he killed Sasha to silence her?

Burgess decides to go with Edna to one of Feldman’s donor parties, which is where she figures out that the drugs are slipped to people via the handstamp. She manages to get to a bathroom to call Ruzek, who barges in with enough evidence to arrest Feldman, even though they didn’t get the confession via Edna that they hoped for.

While Feldman wanted to silence Sasha, he didn’t kill her. He only scared her off. It was Sasha’s friend Lily who did the deed, jealous of Sasha’s ambitions and thoughts of going off to college. She knew that Tommy would be the first person interrogated, so she made it look like it was him. Yes, she did that to her own brother!

Of course, Frank tried to now protect his daughter, but it wasn’t possible. Lily confessed to everything, and because Frank tried to get himself involved, it led to him being arrested as well.

It all ends with Burgess and Ruzek wondering if Canaryville is the right place for Makayla. It’s clear that Sasha felt suffocated here, and they worry that this could be the case for Makayla as well. It’s a conversation to have in a later episode of Chicago PD, though.

Chicago PD airs on Wednesdays at 10/9c on NBC.
