Chicago PD season 13 episode 7 promised a twisty episode, and we just knew that it wouldn’t end with an arrest. There is much more to the story, as the episode ends with Imani’s life being on the line.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS from Chicago PD season 13 episode 7.

The Chicago PD season 13 fall finale had to be a big one. The promo made it clear that Voight’s instincts were right — as expected. The case linked back to an earlier episode this season, with Ray Bell becoming the suspect. However, would Intelligence get what they needed to arrest him?

Connections between Bell and some murders

While Voight spent some time looking at his past again, as more photos of that past came up, Intelligence needed to look into a homicide. Despite Ray saying that he had an alibi, there were connections to him. The problem is that the connection was weak, and Intelligence needed to find more to get him brought in.

It was only when Ray’s granddaughter, Julie, was brought into the hospital that there was a small break in the case. Imani was able to talk with Julie with a social worker present, which is when Julie shared that her grandfather would take people into the wine cellar, and then they would never come out. There are ghosts in that wine cellar, and one of them was of a nurse.

Unfortunately, the questions Imani wanted to ask went against social services protocol, as they weren’t about Julie’s questionable injuries from falling out of a tree. So, the team had to get back to the drawing board with the new information.

It led to a connection to missing people along a certain highway. Ray’s gardener, Aaron, also came forward, sharing more about the wine cellar and the frightening things that would go on down there. However, he didn’t want to go on the record with any of this.

There wasn’t enough to charge him in Chicago PD season 13 episode 7

The end of the episode doesn’t go the way many would want. Without anything to go on with murder, all Intelligence can get is a warrant for tracking and surveillance. It’s not enough for Imani, but Voight makes it clear that she needs to accept what they’re getting.

It wasn’t surprising in the end, then, to see Imani rush to Ray’s house. She’d got a call from Julie — as she’d given Julie her number while at the hospital — that had signs of something nefarious going on. By the time Imani got to the house, Julie wasn’t in her room, but her cellphone was. It hinted that something had happened after all.

As she worked her way through the house, she heard a noise behind her. It’s clear by the end of the Chicago PD season 13 finale that Imani isn’t alone in the house, but what will her fate be? We’ll have to wait until January to find out!

Chicago PD returns on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 10/9c on NBC.
