Every now and then, we’ll get a bit of time with Sergeant Trudy Platt. However, she’s the most commonly overlooked character on Chicago PD, and that’s mostly because she’s not part of the main Intelligence team. Chicago PD season 13 episode 9 is about to change everything.
Chicago PD came back with a bang, delivering good news for Julie — in the fact that she’s alive — and answering questions about who left the photos for Voight. Now it’s time to return to the usual format of personal storylines for other characters, and the Trudy-centric one is going to be hard to watch.
Trudy’s simple favor turns into something bigger on Chicago PD season 13 episode 9
The movie A Simple Favor should probably be watched by every character on a TV series. Those simple favors always turn into something bigger, but Trudy probably wasn’t expecting the favor to turn into a murder investigation.
When she heads over to her former recruit’s home, she finds him dead, and it’s made to look like a suicide. However, Trudy knows this man well enough, and she also knows what a staged scene looks like. When she says that something has been staged, you believe her.
Fortunately, Voight knows the desk sergeant well enough to trust her. He immediately jumps into action, but is it possible that Platt will take matters into her own hands?
Platt finds herself challenged when a simple favor for a former recruit spirals into something far more devastating.

Trudy could land in the line of fire on Chicago PD
We’ve seen Trudy almost killed on the most recent crossover event between the One Chicago shows. That was enough to have us concerned when she gets more screentime, and now we’re worried again.
Platt is angry at the entire situation. Not only has a perp killed a cop, but they’ve killed a cop that she knows and staged it to look like a suicide. They’ve done everything they can to protect themselves and ruin the legacy of a man, and that’s something she isn’t going to stand for. Many a person has learned not to make Platt angry, and now the perps are going to learn the same lesson, but they’re not afraid to fire back.
At the same time, Voight is angry. The perps killed a cop, and he is ready to send a message. You don’t get away with being a cop killer in Voight’s books — unless that cop is a dirty one, considering the actions of the Chicago PD season 12 finale — and he will do whatever he can to take them down. Hopefully, he knows the steps Platt could take as well to protect her from being her own worst enemy.
Chicago PD airs on Wednesdays at 10/9c on NBC.
