After immediate success in the UK, it wasn’t that surprising that BritBox snapped up Code of Silence and also saw success. This is a series that resresents the Deaf community well, and it brings to light the realities of lip reading.
Naturally, people want more. The Code of Silence season 1 finale is now available on BritBox, and we all want to know if there will be more. The problem with UK dramas is that some of them are set up to be limited series, and we always worry that that will be the case.
ITV has renewed Code of Silence
This was not one of the limited series. Code of Silence was renewed for season 2 less than two months after the series premiere dropped, according to Radio Times. With the renewal coming in so quickly, it’s clear that ITV loves the reception of the show, and with hope, the speedy renewal means that there won’t be a long wait for season 2.
This series is a short one, which is typical for British standards. It does help to keep production times down, so we’ll hopefully see Code of Silence sometime in 2026.
Will BritBox renew Code of Silence for season 2?
While ITV has renewed it, it doesn’t mean that the license has to be picked up by another country. BritBox has the license for this crime drama, and we’re sure to see the second season picked up. After all, Code of Silence was billed as a BritBox Original, making it clear that the streamer has no plans for it to go anywhere else.
Like with the first season, we’re sure to see the release happen a few months later. While UK viewers got Code of Silence season 1 in May 2025, U.S. and Canadian viewers had to wait until July 2025, just after the renewal came through.
What will Code of Silence season 2 be about?
As of right now, there are no details for the second season. We don’t want to get into too many spoilers for the finale, but Alison did end the season on a high note. After a lot of questions about whether she was getting too attached to her mark, she proved that she was someone the police could trust.
This has opened the door for her to become an official forensic lip reader, which is needed for a second season to be possible. So, we’re sure to see more of her working with the cops to take down some of the most dangerous gangs in the area. At least with the job it means she and her mom are a little more protected with their housing.
