Alison finds herself getting deeper with Liam in Code of Silence season 1, episode 2. Could this change everything?
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Code of Silence season 1, episode 2.
The episode starts with the way the first episode ended. Alison needs to decide what to tell James about what Liam and Cruella are talking about. All Alison says is that Liam apologized for missing the meeting the previous night, but not the why. Instead, the focus goes onto Liam and Cruella talking about “switching” something.
Ashleigh realizes that it’s the SIM cards, which will be a problem, as they had been intercepting the driver’s messages. But of course they are changing the SIM cards. They realize how dangerous it is to keep the same number, even if Antony doesn’t like it since his girlfriend Sara is pregnant and wants to be able to get a hold of him.

Liam continues to turn up at the pub Alison works at in Code of Silence
Alison goes to her shift at The Canterbury Tap, which is where she runs into Eithan, who just wants to know how Alison is doing. She isn’t interested in talking with him, making it clear that she needs to focus on paying rent, although it does turn out that Eithan is going to become her new landlord, which is some good news. However, when Liam walks in, her focus turns to him.
Liam is speaking with Braden, who happens to own the pub, and so Alison lip-reads their conversation. Liam is instructed to meet a contact and to take someone with him as cover. Of course, Liam is interested in Alison.
With all of this, Alison tells Ashleigh that she’s been working at a bar, and it doesn’t take long for Ashleigh to realize that Alison means the Canterbury. James is angry that Alison didn’t say something sooner, knowing that it could have ruined the entire operation. If only Alison didn’t realize that she was starting to see Liam through the wrong rose-colored glasses, because she could mess the entire thing up. Is this how she ends up being arrested?

Alison sees a good side to Liam
After dealing with James and Ashleigh, Alison returns home to find Liam there talking with Julie. It turns out that Liam has fixed her bike, and now he has the courage to ask her to go to London the next night. Of course, Alison can’t tell him that she knows why he needs to know, but she does agree to go with him.
All the while, Ashleigh and James are in the dark, but they have got some information that Liam is a software developer who has moved around a lot. While Alison is out with Liam, she sees that he has two phones and he tells her that he’s a software engineer and is doing some digital security work for a location businesswoman. Of course, she’s made him sign an NDA so he can’t talk about it.
The two meet with Sammy and Maya, and Liam goes off with Sammy while Alison talks with Maya. Maya explains that Sammy has a storage company and holds things for the rich people.
After the conversation, Liam and Alison spend more time together, and Alison is almost caught looking at the blueprints in his bag. Liam is also wise, and knows that Alison likely tried to read his lips when talking with Sammy, but she tells him that she didn’t get much.
She did get something, though, and she gives Ashleigh some of the information. Naturally, James isn’t happy with anything that’s going on, but he doesn’t really get much of a choice. It’s clear that Alison can get more information, especially since there’s nothing extra in the surveillance budget, and she even gets the information needed to narrow down targets to three storage units.
Alison does almost get caught at the end when Braden finds her on her phone and knows that she was looking at some cameras at work. However, when Liam checks her phone, he only sees messages to her mom, meaning that Alison can leave. That was a close one.
As all this is going on, Eithan learns that a company called Hollis & Byrne Developments has bought the complex she and her mom live in, and that they’ve put in a request for pre-planning. They want to tear everything down and build luxury apartments with some affordable homes. It’s the gentrification that Alison worried about, and now she needs to know if there’s anything she can do.
