Volchek isn’t only just dealing with the task force in Countdown season 1, episode 6. He ends up with the Belarus Consulate on his back.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS from Countdown season 1, episode 6.

It doesn’t take long for the Belarus Consulate to realize that the task force has put a wire on their computers. However, they don’t do what anyone expects in reporting the bug. Instead, they use the information and track down Volchek.

Of course, the Belarus government would be more than happy to take care of their own, so there’s an offer for Volchek to go home. That’s not what Volchek wants.

A hunt for Gallagher in Countdown season 1, episode 6

As Shepherd explains that the Belarus line has gone dead as it’s clear their trap was found, she also shares the information that she has on Gallagher. He knew Novochek, as they ended up being arrested together. Since then, Gallagher has been arrested on two more occasions, which means he has a parole officer.

Oliveras and Meachum head to get answers from the parole officer, who does a lot of flirting. He pulls up the address of Gallagher, which turns out to be full of booby-traps, but Gallagher isn’t there and he hasn’t been there for weeks. So, Shepherd looks into the names of all those who visited him in prison.

This leads to a Wade Trippet. Finau and Bell head out to talk to him, finding out that he was Gallagher’s AA sponsor, and he called a couple of weeks back but Wade had fallen off the wagon. Wade does give them Gallagher’s number, and he promises not to call him to warn him.

There is a chance for Meachum and Oliveras to open up to each other. Oliveras shares about how she went undercover and ended up addicted to drugs. Fortunately, her superior officer figured out that she needed help and managed to give her time to get clean. She wants honesty from Meachum, and while he tells her that he gets migraines, he doesn’t share everything about the brain tumor that he has. However, he does admit that his doctor won’t give him stronger meds unless he reports his migraines to the brass, and he won’t do that until this mission is over.

All four field agents need to head out to the trailer park that Gallagher is staying out. There are signs that he was there, but that they’ve just missed him. Well, as Meachum is in the trailer, Gallagher starts driving off. Of course, he has to get out of the trailer and make a jump for the bed of the truck. It’s an interesting car chase scene, with Gallagher taken down.

It seems to be the wrong Gallagher

Meachum and Oliveras decide to tell Gallagher that they want to take down the American government and authorities. He believes them, and he’s ready to tell them what he knows. However, he doesn’t know any of the names that are being thrown at him. Even Blythe tries to get some answers, but it’s clear that he has no idea who anyone is.

So, it’s either the wrong Gallagher, or Meachum didn’t see that name on the board. Of course, Meachum is angry that he’s questioned. Blythe also isn’t happy about it, telling Bell that he needs to come up with his own leads before questioning others. To be honest, Bell was right in questioning the name, but he doesn’t understand that Meachum is potentially questioning himself and just doesn’t want to share his illness right now. Blythe shouldn’t have gone after Bell in the way he did.

After all that, Oliveras hands Meachum some prescription painkillers to help with the migraines. She needs him, but she also needs him to stop his cowboy ways, because it looked like he had a death wish. Well, he’s not exactly worried about what he’s doing to himself, is he?

Volchek plans to attack the Belarus Consulate in Countdown

While all that goes on, we get to see Volchek take his mind off the plans to destroy America. The Belarus Consulate becomes a major threat, making it clear that it would be better for Belarus to deal with Volchek instead of having the Americans arrest him.

Well, Volchek isn’t happy that the Consulate is onto him. So, he decides that it’s time to send the guy a message, and that’s easy to do when the ambassador is a creature of habit. Well, he ends up not being so much a creature of habit, not going to the bakery after his run, so Volchek has to call off the plan.

Volchek knows that someone has told the ambassador about everything. He sets up a trap, telling all four of his most trusted men a different location, so when the ambassador deviates, he knows which one betrayed him. Volchek doesn’t take well to rats, and he immediately kills the guy.

The end of Countdown season 1, episode 6 brings us the delivery that he had signed for at the beginning of the episode. What’s in the three large trucks?

It’s not really the trucks. It’s the name on the trucks. They are from Gallagher Freight. So, Meachum did have the right name, but not the name of a person.
