Elsbeth is taking a break for the rest of March 2025 (and you can blame sports)

Basketball is about to take over our TV screens in March 2025. It means no more new episodes of Elsbeth this month.
“One Angry Woman” - Elsbeth finally makes it as a true New Yorker when she is summoned to jury duty and lands on a murder trial where she faces off with the unusually difficult Judge Milton Crawford (Michael Emerson) who will prove a formidable adversary, on the CBS original series ELSBETH, Thursday, Dec. 12 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential

I hope you enjoyed the most recent episode of Elsbeth, because it’s the last one we’re getting for the rest of March 2025. The show is heading on a lengthier break than we’ve seen recently, but it’s not a terrible thing for the series as a whole.

This break in March is normal for Thursday and Friday shows. It’s all thanks to March Madness that the shows go off the air on CBS, but they will be back for another string of new episodes soon.

What’s on the schedule on CBS in March 2025?

Elsbeth and all of Thursday and Friday night shows on CBS are taking some time off for the rest of the month. It’s all about March Madness. CBS airs the games, and it can’t air two things at once. The games are a big ratings draw, so a network that needs the viewership because, well, it’s business isn’t going to give that up.

It does mean that we have to wait some time for new episodes. It also means that we don’t get any reruns. If you want to see some older episodes of Elsbeth, you’ll need to turn to Paramount+.

The wait will be worth it when the series returns. While we don’t have many details, we do know that this break means fewer breaks on the other side. After all, CBS needs to get the episodes left to May for finale week, and that means breaks here and there. All networks have this, but by taking a longer break now, there’s more consistency when the show returns.

Unalive and Well
“Unalive and Well” - When a young man is found dead in his car, Elsbeth visits the holistic wellness center he’d just left, and begins to suspect its charismatic founder (Eric McCormack), on the CBS original series ELSBETH, Thursday, Jan. 30 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)* Pictured (L-R): Carra

There’s already good news about Elsbeth’s future

There is some great news already about the future of the series. Elsbeth was among the list of nine shows renewed by CBS for the 2025–2026 TV season. It may have been a bit of a shock considering where the series ranks in the list of others in linear ratings, but it suggests that the delayed ratings are strong.

It’s certainly exciting news going into this break. Now we know we can comfortably watch the rest of the season and look forward to the start of fall 2025.

Elsbeth is available to stream on Paramount+.
