FBI season 8, episode 12 not only brought back a familiar villain we saw earlier in the season but also updated the audience on how OA was doing in the wake of his breakup with Gemma. What happened when the FBI field office found itself under siege?

The episode opened with two FBI agents playing cards with Cordel Meech, a whistleblower who worked for WellReach Health. He was prepared to testify in a money laundering scheme trial the next morning. But when the agents opened their door to someone claiming to be a familiar face, they all ended up dead.

AUSA Meyer Rothbart was identified as the gunman. However, Eva and Scola later found his dead body in his home. Based on the state of his body, they realized he had been dead for hours, and someone else had taken his place. OA and Maggie spotted the lookalike during their search for the shooter, and the man spoke to Maggie as though they had met.

Maggie realized it was Oslo, the hitman who had disappeared after killing a sitting congresswoman. This was also the same man who had put OA’s life in danger as well, so this was a personal mission to bring him down.

Two other witnesses needed protection so they brought them to the field office. However, things went downhill fast as Jubal discovered an FBI agent had been killed. One witness was dead already, and they realized Oslo had somehow gotten into the building.

It was a race against time as they tried to protect the witness, who also had secrets of her own, and find Oslo. After a tense hunt that ended in OA being trapped in an elevator with him, Oslo was arrested.

Oslo willingly let himself be arrested because the person who hired him had kidnapped his daughter. It was the only way they could get him back to the United States to take part in the killings of those involved with WellReach. While he didn’t know who was in charge, he only knew them as Tribune. His story was verified by the surviving witness, who had taken part in the scheme.

The only way they would find out who Tribune was and get Oslo’s daughter, Imogen, back safely was to send a photo of the final dead body to them for proof that they were all dead. Isobel was also going to make it work by putting out a statement claiming Oslo escaped after shooting all three witnesses, even though only two were killed.

They found Imogen but did not find Tribune. However, Isobel had done some digging and discovered Anna Vorpe was behind everything. She had been part of a mission in Iraq that used bad intel that led to Iraqi civilians being killed. Money had been laundered from WellReach in order to pay off witnesses in Iraq.

However, Cordell had discovered the scheme and blew the whistle, which would mean that the secret would come out. Despite threatening to expose Anna, someone higher up kept this from happening. This was a surprising twist, and we wonder if Isobel will try to expose her another way.

The episode also had OA finally come clean to Maggie about his breakup, which occurred in episode 8 of this season. It appeared he had a hard time coming clean since it would mean his relationship was really over. It was great to see Maggie step up and be there for him in this moment.

Overall, this was a pretty good episode that closed the door on a villain pretty quickly, although we wonder if he will be back in some other capacity or if the show has moved on at this point. Either way, it was a fun episode to watch, and we’re looking forward to the rest of the season.

FBI airs Mondays on CBS at 9/8c.
