It didn’t take long to find out that FBI season 8 episode 6 would be down a character. Now the question is when that character will be back, and we have some great news.
Jubal Valentine was absent from the most recent episode, with Isobel walking into the office to share that he wasn’t going to be in the office that day. Instead, she was taking the role of running the floor, and we always know that she does an excellent job of that.
Why wasn’t Jubal Valentine on FBI season 8 episode 6?
The reason for the character being absent wasn’t made exactly clear. I guess there was just the hint that it was a rare day off for the Assistant Special Agent in Charge. It can happen, and it’s been the way the show has worked for some time.
Behind the scenes, it was just the episode for Jeremy Sisto to miss. The actors of all Dick Wolf shows have minimum guarantees when it comes to episodes they’ll appear in. This is a way to help keep the budgets of the shows down, and it means we’re down an agent now and then. Sometimes, this is written into the story, such as OA recovering from the neurotoxin attack during FBI season 8 episode 5. Other times, it’s not even mentioned, or the reason isn’t given.

Jubal will return before FBI wraps its 2025 episodes
While there is a small break in the schedule coming, there is some great news. FBI season 8 still has episode to air in 2025, with its winter hiatus not coming until December. This means good news for those who want to see Jubal before the year is out.
Jubal will be back on FBI season 8 episode 7. The images for the episode make that clear, with the episode slated to air on Monday, Dec. 1.
FBI season 8 episode 7 will air the week after Thanksgiving — when CBS shows traditionally take a break due to the holiday — and will focus on a large-scale explosion that rocks an apartment complex in Brooklyn. It turns out that the man behind the explosion is acting on behalf of someone currently serving time for a felony.
On a more personal matter, Isobel needs to make a decision about who will take over her job permanently before she gets her promotion. She wanted Jubal to take that position, but others at the FBI don’t want that. Could she go against the grain, considering the work Jubal has already done in her stead?
FBI returns on Monday, Dec. 1 at 9/8c on CBS.
