As we close in on the end of the year, we end up with our favorite shows going on their winter breaks. Well, it’s time for the FBI season 8 winter break, and that means there isn’t a new episode tonight, Monday, Dec. 22.

The previous episode was the fall finale. Whether it needed to be a two-parter is questionable, but it was packed with intrigue and danger, as the New York Field Office attempted to stop a domestic terrorist attack focused on taking down all of society. The episode ended on a happy note for Jubal, as Tyler pulled through his injury.

How long is the FBI season 8 winter break on CBS?

So, now you’ll want to know when FBI season 8 will return with new episodes, and this is where we have some bad news. Well, initially, it seems like bad news, but I’m going to put a positive spin on it, because I like what CBS has opted to do in 2026.

FBI season 8 episode 11 will air on Monday, Feb. 23 at 9/8c. Yes, that means we’re going the whole of January and almost the whole of February without new episodes of the crime drama. It’s certainly disappointing, considering we’re used to January starts.

And for some, a delayed start won’t make sense. After all, FOX, ABC, and NBC are all bringing their shows back in early January. Even ABC will bring its Thursday night lineup back in January rather than holding them until March. So, what’s the deal?

This is all linked to the Winter Olympics. CBS has decided that bringing shows back in January to put them on a break in February while the Winter Olympics air on NBC isn’t a good idea. And I have to agree.

FBI will return with more consistency

One thing that we always get annoyed with between January and May is the on-off schedule of the TV networks. There aren’t enough episodes to fill the weeks available during the four months, and that means we get a couple of weeks of episodes and then a week break. It’s frustrating as we get into the swing of things.

By CBS opting to hold off FBI’s return until February, it’s great news for consistency. There are no weeks taken up in January, which means the entire second half of the season will air between the very end of February and May. That takes out weeks of what could have been new episodes, minimizing the off part of the schedule. In fact, we may get a straight run through to the May finale! That’s why I like what CBS is doing in 2026.
