As we inch closer to finale season, we look for signs that our favorite shows are heading on another break. There’s some bad news for fans of the three FBI shows. They are all heading on a break.

As the promos for all three shows said, the next episodes will air in two weeks. That means there won’t be any new episodes on Tuesday, April 29. We’ll need to wait until Tuesday, May 6 for the next episode, but there will not be any more breaks in the schedule.

Why are the three FBI shows on another break?

It often feels like we just get shows back before they head out on another break. Well, this one is purely to do with the CBS schedule. There are four weeks to fill and only three episodes left.

Now, CBS could have realistically opted for a season finale date that was a week earlier. However, one thing I noted when NCIS season 22’s finale date was set for Monday, May 5 was that it was an early date for CBS. The Eye Network tends to push the finales to the third week of May, being the last network with episodes to air.

So, a Tuesday, May 20 date for the three FBI shows to wrap their seasons was pretty expected. It just means that with only three episodes left, a break is needed, and this is the best time to do it.

Not only will it mean three episodes back to back, but it is also the biggest time of year for the Nielsen linear ratings. It’s known as the May Sweeps, and it’s when some of the bigger data collections happen. CBS and other networks want to put on as many new episodes at this time as possible.

When will the FBI shows return?

As mentioned, the return date is set for Tuesday, May 6. All three shows will return with new episodes, starting with the flagship FBI series.

In some bad news, this is the last ever break for FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted. We’re entering the final stretch of episodes, with both shows coming to an end this season. At least we have the CIA spin-off series to look out for!

FBI, FBI: International, and FBI: Most Wanted are all available to stream on Paramount+.
