I feel for Jamie in Found season 2, episode 19. We get to see just how much he was manipulated as a boy, and it’s not that surprising that it took him so long to reach out to Margaret.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Found season 2, episode 19.

Yes, there was a new episode tonight, Monday, April 14! It’s a one-off, with the show moving back to Thursdays next week. This episode, titled “Missing While a Casualty” brought to light what can happen to victims in captivity.

At first, we wondered if Jamie was even Jamie. Then as the storyline went on, we started to wonder why Jamie wouldn’t tell Margaret who took him and where she was. It was clear that the woman who took him was still out there, but why would he keep going back to his kidnapper? Well, this episode explained it extremely well.

At the same time, we got a case that wasn’t quite as usual as the others. A woman comes in asking the M&A Team to hunt down her father, who was presumed dead. She was sure he wasn’t dead, though, and she needed the team to find him so that he could donate his kidney to her brother — his son — as her brother was running out of options.

Tackle the case of Heather’s stolen identity in Found season 2, episode 19

Of course, the episode had to pick up off the back of the cliffhanger at the end of the previous episode. The real Heather turned up at M&A, sharing that she found out the team was looking for her.

Well, now we find out what was going on. Lena had stolen Heather’s identity a whole two years ago, but it was only in the last six months that Heather realized. This means that Lena has been planning something ever since Gabi set up M&A.

Now that they know Lena stole Heather’s identity, they can work on helping Heather get her life back on track. That’s just a small part of the episode.

How do you find a dead man in Found?

When a woman comes to M&A in search for her dad, it seems like it’s just a normal case. That is until she explains that her dad has been presumed dead for the last few years. He was a victim in an apartment building collapse, but she’s sure that her dad isn’t dead.

There is definitely more to the story. Her dad had a bunch of debt to the wrong people, and that debt was mysterious being paid off despite this guy being dead. Well, someone else from the building was telling a big lie. He wasn’t pulled out of the building by the presumed dead father. Oh no! He set up to make it look like the guy had died for some sort of insurance fraud.

Honestly, the case itself wasn’t all that interesting because there was so much else going on. It turned out that mom knew dad wasn’t dead, but she kept it a secret from the children, and that makes me angry. These children had been left believing their dad was gone this whole time and none of them got a chance to bond and connect.

It ends with a bittersweet moment as well. Father donates his kidney to his son, and then he suffers complications and dies after the surgery. While the son makes it, Gabi explains that their dad had a medical condition that he kept quiet, knowing that it would mean he wouldn’t be able to give his kidney. He wanted to do something good after years of being MIA.

Jamie makes a decision in Found season 2

While that guy was a deadbeat and his wife was even more problematic, the bulk of the story was focused on Jamie. We finally get a flashback that explains exactly why Jamie never went to find Margaret before now. Jamie genuinely believed that Margaret didn’t want him.

Kerry had brainwashed him, and that’s so easy to do at the age of six or seven. On his seventh birthday, Margaret called Kerry because she was sad about her boy not being with her. On Kerry’s side of the call, it sounded like Margaret was telling Kerry that she just wanted to forget about Jamie, and that’s what this seven-year-old boy believes.

It’s something Jamie has always believed, but that didn’t stop him from wondering more about his mom. So, as he would see videos of her press conferences with Gabi, he realized that he needed to build up the courage to face Margaret after all this time.

Trent knows that Jamie likely knows where Kerry has gone now that she’s on the run. Sure enough, Jamie did check under a table to find that what he was looking for wasn’t there. While he doesn’t know where Kerry is, he has a way to get in touch with her. Before Jamie turns Kerry over to the cops, he needs some more information.

He starts to see the manipulative actions of Kerry when Trent points out that Kerry’s biological son didn’t die. The kid was taken by CPS, because Kerry is not a fit mother. If that’s one lie that Kerry told, what about the others? So, he turns to Margaret to see if there’s another lie: did Margaret want to forget Jamie on his seventh birthday?

Not at all! We know Margaret would have only thought about Jamie. She knows her words won’t help, though, so she hands him her journal from all those years back. She wants him to look through her most private thoughts, knowing that this will help Jamie understand how she felt and how awful she felt for making Jamie think she didn’t want him around at the bus station.

It’s exactly what Jamie needs. He makes a call at the end of the episode, and it’s to a burner phone that Kerry has. That’s what was missing from the table. Once Jamie confirms that he is choosing her and not Margaret, Kerry tells him that she’ll give him a place to meet the next day. As Jamie hangs up, he tells Trent that he’ll get the information soon and then the police can move in.

I don’t think that this will come to an end so quickly, though. There are still three episodes left in Found season 2, and there’s still a lot to cover. I suspect that this will wrap up in the penultimate episode of the season, as Sir and Lena/Heather will take over the finale.

Found returns to Thursdays at 10/9c on NBC next week.
