There is some bad news for the weekend. FOX has made decisions about The Cleaning Lady and Alert: Missing Persons Unit, and they’re not good ones. The decisions come just after their season finales.

Despite the fall 2025 schedule being announced back in May, FOX decided to hold back on decisions for a few shows. Two of those were crime dramas that still had more episodes to air, The Cleaning Lady and Alert: Missing Persons Unit. While there was a little bit of hope for the two of them, that was dashed this weekend.

The Cleaning Lady canceled after four seasons

Thony will not get a chance to take over the cartel in The Cleaning Lady. Despite season 4 ending on a cliffhanger, there will not be a fifth season. There was a lot of hope that the series would at least get a final season to wrap up Thony’s story.

In a way, the decision isn’t that surprising, though. TVLine reports that the series averaged just 1.67 million viewers with delayed playback, which was down a considerable 13% from the previous season. It ranked last in the total audience when looking at the average total linear viewers.

Alert: Missing Persons Unit canceled after three seasons

Likewise, Alert: Missing Persons Unit will not return, despite ending on a cliffhanger as well. Again, fans hoped that there would at least be a final season to wrap up the storyline to find out what was really going on with Wayne. It looked like she had always set up to infiltrate the unit via Jason.

The series averaged just 2.16 million total viewers with the delayed playback included, which was down 12% from the second season. This series did initially see a tick upward in the total audience at the start of season 3, but then the series opted for a huge twist with the murder of Nikki. That’s when the viewership started to drop, hinting that it looked like the series had done the wrong thing.

However, there was still some hope that Alert would land a fourth and final season since the linear ratings weren’t terrible for a late-spring show. Instead, the series has ended its run with a lot of questions. Had it been canceled after season 2, the questions wouldn’t have been there as the series did end pretty cleanly.

There are now just two shows on the bubble at FOX, one of them being a crime drama. We’re still waiting to see if Accused hasn’t been renewed, but as an anthology series, it looks like FOX is still open to it returning in a few years time.

The Cleaning Lady and Alert: Missing Persons Unit are both available to stream on Hulu.
