A few more potential victims are crossed off the list in Grosse Pointe Garden Society season 1, episode 3. Take a look at the events of the episode.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Grosse Pointe Garden Society season 1, episode 3.

There is still a lot going on in the two timelines. In the past, a few secrets come out and it leads to questions about what’s really going on between couples. In the present day, we find out that someone is following our “night gardeners.” Yeah, that’s definitely not a thing.

Catherine tells Tucker the truth in Grosse Pointe Garden Society season 1, episode 3

It’s time for the truth to come out. I’m glad that this affair storyline isn’t being dragged out, but I’m annoyed by the turn of events. I was really hoping that Tucker was just going to pretend he was going to forgive Catherine to then pull one over on her, because that’s what someone having an affair deserves, to be honest. You break those marriage vows, you get no sympathy from me.

Instead, it turned into a time for both Catherine and Tucker to be honest. He shared that he had fallen for someone else, but with Catherine having an affair, he realized that he needed to step back and focus on his marriage. I like that there is a storyline in here that two people need to consciously act to make their marriage work, but I hate the way the show has gone about it.

Things aren’t looking great for Gary, with masked men abducting him in a parking lot. Not his storyline has me intrigued. What has Gary done to warrant this? I can’t help but feel like this is linked to Tucker in some way. What is Tucker really involved in?

Alice wants answers from Doug in Grosse Pointe Garden Society

Meanwhile, Alice and Doug head to marriage counselling, but this is a chance for Alice to shock Doug into some sort of confession. She pulls out the handgun that she found in his supplies. While he doesn’t deny the gun is his, he still doesn’t really admit to killing the dog. He does admit to leaving the back gate unlatched accidentally, though.

It’s too obvious for Doug to be the dog killer, to be honest. I can’t stand the guy, but I don’t think it was him. That story he told was way too specific for it to be a confession.

However, Doug can’t stand being around Alice right now, so he’s gone. I do have to wonder if Doug actually likes Alice, because it doesn’t seem like it. He just liked that she had a stable job so he could opt for painting. There’s a lot that I can’t stand about him.

Birdie finds out her son is allergic to bees

Then there’s Birdie, who decides that Ford can volunteer at the garden society to pay off his debt to her. This leads to him being stung by a bee and having an allergic reaction. Seeing Birdie’s fear for her son is so raw and honest. She’s not just scared about being caught out by Ford’s adopted parents, but she’s scared for Ford himself. Deep down, she does care about him.

Joel also doesn’t hate the fact that Ford was volunteering. To be honest, this is a good thing for Ford. How was anyone to know that he was allergic to bees without it happening or without him saying something? This was simply a freak accident, and Joel acted appropriately. I get why Ford’s adopted mom is freaking, but she needs to take a step back. It’s clear she does since Ford is still volunteering, but in a full bee suit!

I’m not sure what Ford’s mom is expecting Joel to arrest Birdie for, though. For signing the paperwork? Well, if she didn’t Ford wouldn’t have got the immediate treatment needed. So, she should be thanking Birdie. The biggest shock in all of this was finding out that Joel is just Ford’s stepdad and not adopted dad. There’s a lot that Birdie doesn’t know about this dynamic.

Catherine has a plan to deal with Quiche

In the present day, we find out that there’s a new house being built. Catherine wants Birdie to buy it so that Quiche can be buried there. That way, they’ll never have to worry about reburying Quiche again.

Only, there’s a lot more going on. Someone is watching them, and they all worry that it’s the cops. It’s not, but it could create some issues for them all. There’s a PI following Brett. Melissa and Connor have hired a PI to help them get full custody of the children. Melissa has even filed for emergency custody.

I really don’t like Connor, but then there are few characters who I actually like in this series. I always say that there’s a reason for an ex to file for emergency custody, but in this case, I do think that Connor has Melissa wrapped around his little finger. I just don’t know Brett enough to know if he should or shouldn’t lose custody. A lot can happen in six months.

We still have no idea who Quiche is, but it’s clear that it’s someone nobody really misses. That suggests it isn’t Connor or Ford’s mom. There are a few other suspects, though, and Gary could be at the top of the list.

Grosse Pointe Garden Society airs on Sundays at 10/9c on NBC.
