Are you ready to get stuck into another crime thriller? Prime Video has a new series starring Daniel Dae Kim, Butterfly.
This is not a show you’ll want to skip over if you like action and an inclusive cast. It brings some familiar themes, but in a fresh way with a lot of fun fight scenes to boot. The downside for some is that it’s a binge-watch, and that means you need to set the time to be able to watch all the episodes.
Butterfly episode count on Prime Video
Something to note is that Butterfly is a binge-watch, and I think that could hinder the series. One of the important things to know when you find out there’s a binge-watch is knowing how many episodes there will be. This allows you to make sure that you have enough time to watch in full, or make sure you can split up the show in easy, digestible parts that will still make your views count for a renewal.
Butterfly has six episodes to the season.
Each of these episodes are around 50 to 60 minutes long, so you’ll need to have around six hours available to get through them. Yes, this is shorter than most Prime Video shows, but it works for a binge-watch release a little better than an eight- or 10-episode season.
It’s best to make sure you’ve watched all six episodes by the end of the weekend after it drops. This could be with three episodes on Saturday and three episodes on Sunday, an episode a night from Wednesday with more on the weekend, or a full six-hour binge-watch at the weekend.

What is Butterfly about?
The new series follows a man who retired from U.S. intelligence to live a quieter life in South Korea. However, he had to fake his death to protect his daughter, and now she has learned the truth. On top of that, she’s been sent to kill him.
It looks like David (Kim) knows who has sent his daughter after him, though. She’s been trained by a private intelligence firm, owned by Piper Perabo’s Juno, who has a complicated history with David. Why would she want to send someone to kill him, and why specifically his daughter?
Throughout the series, we don’t just get an action thriller. There’s a family drama at the heart of it, as David and his daughter Rebecca need to mend fences, open up, and figure out if there is a way forward for them to be a family again.
Butterfly drops in full on Prime Video on Wednesday, Aug. 13.
