There is definitely some disappointing news for High Potential fans. Just like so many other shows, the series is being temporarily pulled from the schedule, and you can thank sports for this.

ABC hasn’t been the most upfront about its Winter Olympics plan, but now we finally get to see which shows will return each week and which ones are going on a break. While The Rookie and Will Trent continue with new episodes, we’ll get reruns of High Potential for the rest of February.

Why is High Potential taking a break in February 2026?

This break is due to the Winter Olympics, although it doesn’t quite make sense when you consider that Will Trent will still air new episodes on Tuesdays. And now, it makes even less sense that ABC moved The Rookie to Mondays, when it could have been pulled forward an hour on Tuesdays until RJ Decker starts in March!

Regardless, High Potential is heading on a break. There will be no more new episodes throughout February, as ABC doesn’t want to run the risk of the linear ratings dropping during the world sporting event.

This is also likely a way to spread out the episodes to make sure the finale airs in May. Last year, we had a long wait between the finale and premiere, and it was excruciating.

When will High Potential season 2 return with new episodes?

The good news is that we know when the show will return. ABC has set the return date for Tuesday, March 3.

Yes, annoyingly there is a Tuesday in February after the Winter Olympics, but this is being taken up by the State of the Union Address. That will mean that Will Trent will also be off that date. On Tuesday, March 4, Will Trent and High Potential will lead in for the new crime dramedy RJ Decker, creating a full quirky Tuesday night!

When High Potential returns, Morgan and Karadec will need to deal with a potential carjacking gone wrong. However, it’s soon clear that John Doe didn’t die from the car landing on his head, but instead from a bullet wound to the chest. Also, his body was moved! So, now the team will have their work cut out for them, as they figure out where the original crime scene was and why someone would move it to a car dealership.

High Potential returns on Tuesday, March 4 at 9/8c on ABC. You can catch up on the show via Hulu.
