There is some excellent news for High Potential fans. Yes, we’re going into the season 1 finale, but there will be more of this series to come.
The High Potential season1 finale will air on Tuesday, Feb. 11. It’s clear that this is going to be a little darker and scarier than previous episodes. The promo for the episode takes a turn that others don’t. However, if you’re worried about it ending on a cliffhanger we’ll never get a resolution to, there’s some great news.
High Potential has scored a second season
In some excellent news, High Potential was one of the first broadcast shows of this season to be renewed. It came behind the likes of Matlock, but a renewal is a renewal. And when it comes to an exciting and fun show, we’re here for it!
The renewal isn’t surprising. This show is good quality and has performed well in the linear ratings. As Deadline pointed out, it hit series highs in both the total audience and the demo figures across all platforms when it return in the winter premiere. Now, I will say the move to the earlier timeslot was the main reason, but it goes to show that people want to see more of Morgan.
How many episodes will be in High Potential season 2?
There isn’t a confirmed episode count for now. The first season is only 13 episodes long. While in the past, successful shows have had extended orders, that’s not been the case for a lot of broadcast shows for some time. Yes, The Irrational got an extension for its first season and we’ve seen Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage get extended, but it happens less and less due to cost.
However, the second season is set to have more episodes. The exact count will likely depend on when ABC wants to air the show. It worked well as a fall series, but that means breaks in the schedule. Could this show get the Will Trent and The Rookie treatment and be held for the midseason to get a consistent run of episodes?
We’ll have to wait and see what the plans are in May. For now, at least we know the season 1 finale isn’t a series finale.
High Potential season 1 is available to stream on Hulu.
