How long is the Chicago PD season 12 winter hiatus?

The Chicago PD season 12 fall finale ended with some major questions. The biggest is how long the winter break is going to be.

Things are not looking great for Intelligence. The team is fractured due to Torres’s actions, although there is a small chance that they can work back to being a team after the events of the Chicago PD season 12 fall finale.

The episode ended with heartbreak for Torres. However, it’s not that that we’re focused on. Deputy Chief Reid knows about everything. He knows what Torres did, and he knows what Burgess did. He also knows that Voight tried to cover it all up. So, why hasn’t Reid done anything? Why not shut down the department?

Well, it turns out that Reid has his own ulterior motives. He wants him and Voight to become friends. We know that means something sinister down the line. What has Reid done that he wants Voight to cover up? That’s usually the way. The only way to find out is to get new episodes, and that means we’re waiting for the winter break to end.

Chicago PD season 12 returns in January 2025

While we are now heading into the winter break, it’s not too long. It’s certainly not as long as the likes of the TGIT shows! In fact, this winter break is about as long as normal. In past years, we’ve seen the One Chicago shows wrap up the week before Thanksgiving and then return in early January.

That’s what is happening here. Chicago PD season 12, episode 9 will air on Wednesday, Jan. 8. It will air at the usual time of 10 p.m. ET/Pt after Chicago Med and Chicago Fire. Yes, all three show are sticking together.

We even get a look at what we’ll be able to expect when the show returns. Voight shares with the team that two little girls have been kidnapped and the kidnappers want $200k from the family. If the kidnappers don’t get it, the girls will be killed. Voight is going to do everything in his power to prevent that from happening.

It doesn’t look like this has anything to do with what Reid wants. Of course, he could insert himself in the case and make it difficult, but it looks like this is a case for Voight and the team to close that fracture that’s happened due to recent events.
