We’ll get to watch the SVU team tackle an older case tonight, Thursday, Jan. 2. Here’s what to know about Law & Order: SVU season 26 tonight.
There isn’t a new episode of the series on NBC tonight, and that won’t be surprising to most people. It’s rare for a network to bring new episodes back so close to the New Year celebrations. While some shows are returning, NBC won’t want to risk a big drama like SVU.
Instead, we’re getting a rerun of the show. There is still a bit of a wait for the return of the series.
Which episode of Law & Order: SVU will air tonight?
NBC is opting for the second episode of Law & Order: SVU season 26 tonight. This is an episode that saw Benson and her team tackle a difficult situation. A woman found a diary in her old home, leading to some repressed memories coming back. Anyone who has had to deal with repressed memories will know just how traumatic and difficult this is. It’s literally reliving the trauma again.
Carisi needs to fight to get justice in this decades-old crime. The judge stalls the court case, which puts everyone’s patience to the test. What is actually going on?
When will Law & Order: SVU return with new episodes?
The series will return soon. While the One Chicago lineup will return next week, we’ll have to wait a little longer for the Law & Order shows. The new episode will air on Thursday, Jan. 16.
The episode is set to pick up off the traumatic events Carisi faced in the fall finale. The suspect will change his plea, which means that Carisi will likely have to relive everything that he faced when he was caught up in a hostage/rape/murder situation just while trying to buy flowers. It was clear by the end of the episode that Carisi wasn’t okay emotionally, and it was hard to deal with the fact that the suspect pled that he was acting in self-defense the whole time.
Well, what if he wasn’t? What will happen now, and will it have anything to do with what he yelled at Carisi when he was arrested?
In some great news, we’ll get to see Amanda Rollins back, as it looks like we’ll get some family time in the new episode. TVLine has some first-look images for the show’s return.
Law & Order: SVU returns on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 9/8c on NBC. Catch up the following day on Peacock.
