Olivia Benson helps a journalist in Law & Order: SVU season 26, episode 5 (Preview)
While a lot of Law & Order: SVU episodes involve murder and rape, there are other serious crimes out there. Benson deals with sextortion in Law & Order: SVU season 26, episode 5.
The previous episode put a little more attention on Carisi’s home life. Well, more like him as a father. We got to see him completely disturbed by a situation with his daughter, leading to him worrying about her safety in the future. It also affected him throughout the case of the night.
I do appreciate the storyline. Sure, Carisi shouldn’t have acted the way that he did, but he’s human. We all make mistakes, and emotions can take over.
It’s a sextortion ring in Law & Order: SVU season 26, episode 5
Carisi is right to be disturbed and worried, as well. This latest episode will give us a look at why. When a journalist is a victim in a sextortion ring, Benson needs to do everything she can to protect the woman’s career. It’s not often that the show focuses on sextortion, but it really should. It is growing more and more problematic, and it’s putting careers and lives on the line.
In this ring, people are filming videos of others having sex. They then extort the victims with the release of the videos if they don’t pay big bucks.
There is only one way to get to the bottom of this ring, though. Velasco needs to go undercover as a potential target. He’ll pretend to be a wealthy target so that he can end up being the one filmed. As they catch the people behind it, they’ll be able to help the victims get their lives back.
