Murder investigations are supposed to be relatively simple on Law & Order. The focus is always on who killed the person, and that’s what Walker and Riley think they’re dealing with when it comes to the case on Law & Order season 25 episode 12.
Titled “Never Say Goodbye,” the two are investigating the murder of a flight investigator. However, as they enter the apartment of the wife, they realize that things aren’t quite as they seem. And now, there are a lot more questions about what is going on.
Thanks to our friends at NBCUniversal, we have a sneak peek of the new episode, which sees Riley and Walker realize that this case isn’t as straightforward as it would initially seem.

When a murder investigation isn’t a murder investigation on Law & Order
The clip starts with Riley and Walker preventing a woman from grabbing a gun and shooting them. It’s not clear why she wants to fire the weapon, but Riley and Walker are able to disarm her. That’s when things take a turn.
As they hear the voice of a man in another room, they need to go and investigate. Who else is in the apartment, and are they armed? Well, it wouldn’t do much good if they were armed, because it turns out that while the voice is in the apartment, the person isn’t.
Take a look at the sneak peek for Law & Order season 25 episode 12 to see what we mean:
Isn’t this guy meant to be dead? That’s what the two detectives thought, but now it seems like they have the case completely wrong. Is it that he’s faked his death? And if so, why would he do that?
Price and Maroun have to change tactics
This isn’t just an issue for the police investigation. Everything needs to start from the beginning, and now Price and Maroun need to change their tactics in court. Rather than really going after the defendant, they need to put the defendant’s state of mind on trial.

Can you really do that? This is sure to bring up a lot of debate and questions, but something that they should all be looking into is why a man felt the need to fake his own death.
Plus, who is the defendant? Is it the wife, or is it the husband who faked his death? What if there are bigger mitigating factors in this? This episode of Law & Order is not one to miss.
Law & Order airs tonight, Thursday, Jan. 29, at 8/7c on NBC and streams the following day on Peacock.
