Mark-Paul Gosselaar has directed Found season 2, episode 17, which airs tonight, Thursday, April 3. He shared a little about stepping behind the camera and working with his fellow cast members in another way.
During our interview with Shanola Hampton and Mark-Paul Gosselaar, we got to ask about an upcoming episode that he was directing. At the time, we had no idea what the events of the episode would be, as we were just coming off the back of Sir being arrested and Gabi getting a sense of being somewhat safe from him.
Now we know that the episode will see Gabi and Margaret in danger. A man from Gabi’s past holds M&A hostage to get information about his missing son, and Sir can do little to help while he’s stuck in jail. Now it makes sense why Gosselaar said that he didn’t have to direct himself too much.

Precinct TV: You’re directing 217. How do you go about directing, especially when you’re part of the episode as well?
Mark-Paul Gosselaar: Well, I mean cattle prods were used while I directed. Obviously we have some very difficult actors. I’m not going to name any names, but one of them is in this room.
This was done with Hampton still in the interview room, so I’m sure you can guess who he’s talking about. The love between this cast is so clear with the sarcasm that comes through.
MPG: I didn’t have to direct myself a lot. Kelli Williams had an episode where she was in a lot and had to direct herself. That’s a little more difficult.
I got to enjoy just being behind the camera, which is something I really enjoy and hope that I can do again. We have fantastic actors, and the material that you’re given is top notch, so it’s almost a situation where it’s a win-win. You’re just trying to hang on and make sure you do come in with the win, because they give you every opportunity to excel.

Found season 2, episode 17 is an especially powerful episode for a few characters, especially Gabi and Margaret. This is not one that you’ll want to skip.
