911 has announced that two recurring stars on the ABC show will now be series regulars! This comes after the shocking and devastating exit of Peter Krause's Captain Bobby Nash. Find out what we know about who will join the other cast members as regulars for 911 season 9.

Corinne Massiah and Elijah M. Cooper have been added to the lineup that includes Angela Bassett, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Oliver Stark, Kenny Choi, Aisha Hinds, Ryan Guzman, and Gavin McHugh. Massiah has been with the show since the pilot, portraying Bassett’s daughter May Grant.

Fans saw May grow from a young teenager to a confident young woman who became a 911 dispatcher for a short period before moving on to college. Massiah had been a regular from seasons 2-5 before taking time off from the show to obtain her college degree, and then returned for the final episodes of season 8 to mourn her on-screen stepfather.

With her new role on the show as a series regular, we could potentially see May return to being a dispatcher alongside Hewitt’s Maddie Han, or she could decide on another career. We can’t see her becoming a cop, given her feelings about her mom’s job. However, seeing May on screen more is something fans have been wishing for.

How can 911 incorporate May and Harry into the show more as series regulars?

Cooper took on the role of Harry Grant after Marcanthonee Reis decided not to return. Cooper’s first episode was back in season 7 and since then, we haven’t gotten to see much of Harry. However, like Corinne, Cooper was featured in the final few episodes if season 8, mourning Bobby alongside his mom and sister.

Now that Cooper will likely be seen on screen more, does this mean he will also decide on a career as a first responder? The show will likely want to keep Bassett’s Athena Grant-Nash connected to the rest of the firefighters on the series. We have not seen much of Harry since Cooper took on the role, but we hope season 9 will flesh out both May and Harry’s roles.

911 season 9 will be the first season without Peter Krause onscreen, and while it is jarring to think about, many fans are looking forward to seeing the continuing dynamics on screen.

Other recurring stars of the series include Tracie Thoms, Declan Pratt, Bryan Safi, Debra Christofferson, Askyler Bell, Hailey and Bailey Leung, and Lou Ferrigno Jr.

Fans will be able to watch their favorite first responders beginning on Thursday, Oct. 9 when 911 returns for season 9 at 8/7c.
