We met Gibbs when he’d learned everything about investigations. NCIS: Origins season 1, episode 8 will see him learn another lesson.

It’s time for Randy to give Gibbs a lesson this time. It’s a lesson in protective detail, which we’ve not had to see Gibbs do. We know in the future he becomes extremely good at protective detail. Everyone has to learn somewhere, and hopefully, Gibbs will take this lesson on the chin.

However, while Randy knows how to do his job, he’s not always perfect. He has his own personal situation going on in the episode, and that could distract him from the case. Could Gibbs help with that? Gibbs isn’t handling anything personal in the healthiest of ways right now, but that doesn’t mean he can’t support a team member.

A targeted priest in NCIS: Origins season 1, episode 8?

It’s not often that we see NIS (or NCIS now) enter a place of worship. When they do, it’s to get a few answers for a case. In this episode, they may need to protect a priest, who is potentially being targeted. This explains why Gibbs needs to learn about protective detail.

The episode starts with a Navy priest who is killed while in the confessional booth. However, the priest was targeted by mistake, which means the killer and the intended target is still out there. We can assume that it’s another priest considering the place of the death. Who else would the murderer expect to step into the confessional booth?

Take a look at the synopsis for NCIS: Origins season 1, episode 8 to get an idea of what to expect in tonight’s episode:

"Gibbs and the team investigate the case of a Navy priest who was killed in the confessional booth and may have been targeted by mistake. Meanwhile, Randy shows Gibbs the ropes of working a protective detail while struggling with a personal situation."
