NCIS: Origins has offered us a look at some great Gibbs moments that we expected based on stories from NCIS. However, there’s one thing he’s well known for that we haven’t seen him do yet in the prequel series.
In some exciting news, NCIS: Origins season 2 is going to offer a first for Austin Stowell’s Young Gibbs. It’s going to be interesting to see how the series manages this to make it both believable and to allow us to see the Gibbs we know.

Gibbs will get into the interrogation room in NCIS: Origins season 2
While we have seen Gibbs interrogate people in the field before, we’ve not seen him do it from inside the interrogation room. Well, in some exciting news, NCIS: Origins season 2 will include that. Gina Lucita Monreal shared with TVLine that this is something she’s excited to be able to show.
“One thing we haven’t shown yet, that I’m really excited for, is Gibbs’ first interrogation. We’ve seen him question people, outside in the field and in the elevator, but we haven’t seen him yet in interrogation properly grilling somebody — and I’m excited to see what that first will look like.”
As we all know, Gibbs is skilled in the interrogation room. There have been times he’s reduced suspects to tears, and everyone knows that when he’s in there, he’s going to get the answers that he wants.
However, how long did it take for him to build up on his skills in there? This is something that will be interesting to see play out. We know that Gibbs has been skilled when interrogating in the field, but that room can be rather daunting for a few people.

How much of a reliable narrator is Gibbs in NCIS?
Something that is worth noting is that we’re assuming that everything Gibbs has told us in NCIS is true. There have been various stories he’s brought up, but what’s to say that he didn’t misremember something? What about now, as NCIS: Origins is him telling the story to someone else?
This could be a great way around breaking canon here and there. The benefit of the first interrogation is that there isn’t one just yet. We don’t know how that went, and whether Gibbs ended up messing something up. This is a man who is quick to learn from his mistakes, so if he does mess up in the room, he certainly won’t do the next time.
That’s something the series should embrace and show us. Make it clear that Gibbs isn’t the perfect NCIS agent, because he’s not when you consider mistakes he’s made and actions he’s taken that have cost a lot. So, seeing Gibbs learn the ropes of effective interrogation in the room is going to be important, although there’s sure to be a natural gift to it at the same time.
NCIS: Origins season 2 will premiere on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 9/8c on CBS.
