NCIS season 23 is coming in fall 2025, but when could we expect the premiere to air?

CBS has set the fall schedule, and NCIS season 23 is on it.
“Nexus” – As NCIS investigates a dangerous connection between the Nexus cartel and Parker’s longtime nemesis, mob boss Carla Marino, the team uncovers a high-stakes plot involving stolen nuclear material. With time running out, Parker is forced into an uneasy alliance that could determine the fate of the operation – and his own future, on the 22nd season finale of the CBS Original series NCIS, Monday, May 5 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live

In some great news, NCIS season 23 remains part of the fall schedule. CBS isn’t changing things up too much, but we will see a change to the night and time that the show will air. It’s heading back to its former timeslot, Tuesdays at 8/7c!

Yes, this is a great move for the future of NCIS. Now we just want to make sure that we’re ready for the show to return. When will the NCIS season 23 premiere air on CBS? Sadly, CBS hasn’t set any dates yet, but we can take a look at previous seasons to get an idea of when to expect it.

CBS’s fall schedule technically starts in September

Most of the broadcast networks opt for a mid-to-late-September start for the fall schedule, and that was the case for CBS for many years. With this in mind, we could see NCIS season 23 premiere as early as Tuesday, Sept. 23.

I don’t think this is going to be the case, though, especially based on the fall 2024 schedule. CBS has pushed the schedule back a little bit, and this is actually a good thing for us as viewers. Waiting longer for the summer hiatus to end means that we don’t have as many breaks once the shows return.

Look out for NCIS season 23 in October 2025

My guess is that we’ll be looking at Tuesday, Oct. 7 as a premiere date. This would match the premiere of season 22, as CBS looks to start the seasons a little later. Yes, it’s annoying, but it means that there are fewer weeks to fill in the regular season.

We’ll likely see a break around the end of November or start of December, and then we could have a winter break that lasts until the end of January again. Yes, this is another long break, but it means that we’ll have fewer breaks when the shows return. Just look at how many breaks there were between January and May 2024 for NCIS compared to NBC’s shows like Chicago PD and Law & Order.

What to expect in NCIS season 23

The 22nd season ended with a shock for Parker. His dad has been murdered, and he knows that it’s at the hands of Carla. Now he needs to prove that it was her, and he’s sure to go on the warpath for that one.

NCIS season 23 will also put some focus on the individual characters once more. There has been a lot of focus on just the cases of the week recently, without a lot of personal development for the characters. That has changed the feeling of the series, and it’s time to get back to what made it so great in the past.

Just remember that NCIS season 23 will air on Tuesdays moving forward. We get a full NCIS Night!
